: 4WD worth it?

I am going to get a new QX, but I am having trouble deciding on 4WD or not. I will not be doing any offroading or pulling heavy trailers. However it rains a lot here and the extra grip might be beneficial.

Can anyone comment on the 4WD option on the QX ? Will it affect/improve handline? Is it worth the extra 3k and trouble of finding the exact options I want (not as many 4WD packages around from what I can see).

Any advice would be appreciated.

ABLS is standard and helps alot with RWD traction, basically prevents one wheel from spinning by itself... Your best traction is gonna come from good tires regardless.... I wouldn't take a $60k QX56 offroad either, and there is no way I could justify 4wd just for driving on pavement in the rain, there is some additional routine maintenance in addition to the price tag, so the extra $3k isn't the end of it...

The very worst thing you can do for a 4wd truck is to NEVER USE IT.... The lack of use will cause more front drivetrain failures than those of us who use it will ever experience... If you ever get snow or ice, or occassionally hit a trail, it can be worth it.... Otherwise, I'd just put that $3k towards some great wet traction tires and call it a day...

"better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it" as Subaru once said!!

And, Welcome to the Club!! either way you're gonna like that ride!

I think I will go with the 4WD... I want to take the kids skiing and to the beach on occasion. I remember driving in the snow with 2WD and it sucked big time.

I can deal with the extra maintenance, and 3k more for a 60k car isn't really a big deal.
