1st, does my 09 armada have the capability of playing a video at the same time the video plays in the back? if so what do i need to do to make this work?

you need to set the parking brake, there is a write up on here on how to bypass the sensor. just run a search

that was my next question. how do i bypass the sensor? i read the thread about the 08 armadas, just wondered if the 09's were the same?

I have a 2011 SV and we had a DVD package installed at the dealership... Along these same lines, can I view the output to the DVD on the front display? Is this to say I can only if I set the parking brake or is this only for upgraded packages?

if you can see the dvd in the front monitor whilst the car is parked (i.e. your not driving) then its very likely you can still do the front mod. there is a wonderful thread on this in this section with photos and info to perform the mod...

I think you need to have the technology package to be able to view DVD in the front
