Hi all!
I'm confused. I had to replace the ECU on my QX56 and I live in Europe and have problems. Yes, we replaced the IPDM before changing the ECU. After a lot of waiting I got the new ECU from USA and thought everything were fine. After some initial problems because the Nissan workshop did'nt now how to generate the codes to pair the keys to the new ecu they solved that and so long it's ok. But then they say they have to upload the database to the ECU and they don't have any data for the QX56 in their european system. Can anyone tell me what this data really is and how we can get this? They said that they can ask this from Infiniti USA but it can take several weeks to get it...???
Uprev might happen to have one on file they might be able to sell to you.

Personally, I don't understand why they can't get it from Infiniti Japan.

Ok, thank you, I'll ask them about this. But what is this data really? Shouldn't the ecu be programmed when it comes from the factory? I don't find anything about this in the service manual...?

The Q56 is not built for Europe and when they got your new ECU from the States that ECU comes with all the data for your vin#. I don't get it why they would have to get more data.

I was thinking the same thing, that the data should be there already when delivered from USA. Could they have messed up and wiped it by mistake?

Heck yes, the mechanic could have wiped it. The scenario does not make sense to me and I smell something funny going on.
Good Luck and as Pop's mentioned: If you get UpRev Orsirus you can load your own program to the ECU. I've seen them going between $200-$300 on the boards.

So everyone seems to agree that the data should have been there already in the new ecu, I need to take a ride to the workshop and have a discussion about what they really have done...

I know what happen when they install the new ECU they probably flashed you ECU and that's how they wiped it off

No doubt about it... You can call any Nissan Dealership Service Dept here in the US or speak to Nissan USA, EU, or whoever and they will confirm but there's no doubt they come from the plant pre-flashed and ready to go if the order was placed correctly..

Hi again everyone! Latest news is that all problems maybe is'nt the ecu after all, they say it might be the wiring harness. Does that maske sense? Sound like it could do to me, if it causes problem with communication both for ECU<>Engine and ECU<>Programming device ?
