Ive read alot good reviews about the R1 rotors. I was gonna do a brake upgrade last year, but decided 2 wait a year to see if the r1 reviews were gonna change. and now im sold. i will be ordering a set next week. Ive found a good deal for front and rear rotors and brake pads on ebay for 224 with free shipping. Im not sure why its cheaper on ebay cuz the ebay phone number is the same phone number thats posted on the R1 website. take a look at it and let me know what u think.

1 other note. Ive followed some of the upgrade that pops had recommend. so far....pops has been on point and alot of CA members backs his claim. I am happy with the results. I wanna THANK all CA members 4 posting tips and how to write ups. U all help alot.

some CA members suggested that the caliper bolts should be changed. could i get these bolts online, at a local hardware/auto store or is the dealer option the only way to go. thanks

That does appear to be there eBay Store... I would call the number on the R1 website to confirm they are the same before ordering.. For the bolts, I would stay with OEM, there's different grades of steel available and by the time you find the right ones you could've already been done.... and Thanks for the Kudos!!!! :D

I was looking at these today too. But it doesn't look like they make a rotor (at least not in their Ebay store) for a 2008. I think they changed to a larger rotor in either 2007 or 2008, so I guess that's the reason.

Which reminds me... does anyone know if it's a Bosch or an Akebono caliper on a 2008? I think I posted a ways back on this and someone told me if the caliper was a grayish black color, that should be a Bosch caliper. So I ordered EBC pads for a Bosch caliper (still not installed as yet). But I called Infiniti on something else and mentioned this to them. They said they switched to Akebono calipers sometime in late 06/early 07. So now I don't know what the heck I have! Anybody confirmed this that has changed out pads on an 08? Mine is a QX56 but I assume it would be the same for the Armada.

Also, from what I've read, the R1 Concepts are good rotors. But I have heard others say you should stick with the Premium only. And avoid the pads that come with the Ebay kit. No experience myself, just what I've read on other forums. I bought the EBC Greenstuff pads myself. Others have recc. the Hawk HP+ or ferro carbon pads.

I haven't seen Akebono calipers yet, mine are Bosch and the sticker on them says so. ;)

Now that's interesting. I wonder if all the Bosch calipers had a sticker on them with the Bosch name? There's certainly nothing on mine giving any indication. They're a very light black color. Grayish black I guess would describe them. I would have sworn someone said the Bosch calipers were that color. But I guess the Akebono could be as well.

Based on what Infiniti said today, sounds like I'm going to have to return the pads I just got in and ask for an exchange. I'm real hesitant about ordering any rotors now, as it sounds like those are specific to the brand of caliper as well. Welll, actually, it sounds like they switched to a larger rotor (13.75" vs the earlier 12.5") along with the change to the Akebono caliper.

Call (888) 712-6623... They have our year model information in their database and can easily tell you which ones you have.. 2005 is the only tough year because that is when they changed on the assembly lines.

Just an FYI, they do make a rotor for the 2008 Armada/QX56. But it's quite a bit more expensive. OP said he found four rotors and full set of pads for $224. Just a set of rotors only for a 2008 runs $209. Ouch!! That is for slotted, not plain. Eline, not the Premiums. I don't race, so see no need for the Premiums. My goal is just shortest stopping distance in an emergency.

I didn't ask for pricing on the plain as I had already decided to go with slotted. The R1 Concept Premiums are $260 for just two front rotors. I had read somewhere that there's around a $50 difference per set of two rotors between the Eline and the Premium.

On plain vs slotted, seems everyone has an opinion. I've read too much about the cross drilled problems, so staying away from those. It does, however, make some sense to me that the slotted would clear any debris off the pad surface, which could give a shorter stop distance than plain. And they look cooler! R1 also mentioned that they help to clear brake dust too, so should keep the rims cleaner. Not a problem at all right now, but with my trying different pads, that could be a plus.

I had planned to go with new rotors, pads and SS brake lines. But I still have a good amount of life left on what I have on there now, so may hold off on changing out, at this price point, until I actually need them.

BTW, thanks for the phone number Pops. Appreciate it. R1 was very helpful and friendly. That's worth some extra $$ in my book. Just not nearly double the extra $$!!!

I'm not sure what you're comparing against, but OEM cost around $105.08 per rotor which adds up to $210.16 just for the front rotors..... My OEM rotors kept warping or whatever causing the steering wheel to wobble... For me that alone was worth getting aftermarket rotors, being slotted and cross-drilled and about the same or less cost was just a bonus... The 2008 rotors might be different than my 2005 are so your experience may be different...

I've got an 07 LE that just started the shimmy at 60+...I have 24's and plan to go with ebc ultimax and some ebc low dust pads to keep the rims cleaner, but does anyone know HOW much faster it wears pads down? I have no problem trading $ for looks, but I don't want to replace brake pads every 8 months either. I'm doing this on Saturday.....

I've had mine on for quite awhile now and the wear has been no faster than OEM.

I installed the R1 rotors and pads. I couldnt believe how easy the install was. Did it in under an hour. I also installed the belstein shocks. that took about an hour and a half. I installed the inline window visor in 5 mins. Install was easy cause of all the info i got from CA...thanks
