Hello everyone. I am being stationed at Fort Drum in June. Is there anything special you guys do to keep the rust off of your QX56/Armadas, other than garaging them.

First thank you for your service!

There are aftermarket undercoatings out there you can buy from the local parts store you can spray on your undercarriage.
When I lived in NH undercoating was must if you wanted to protect your investment against all the winter road salt. One of the most inexpensive ways was to use hot motor oil and spray it all over the undercarriage leaving an oily film over everything, it was messy but worked. The concept behind it was, did you ever see a leaking valve cover or oil pan? If so you would notice there was no rust on the oil covered part. Some back yard mechanics got together and started spraying the underneath and inside the door panels to prevent rust. You would see a lot of dented cars, but the ones who used oil undercoating were rust free. It use to cost $20-$30 to do a car back in the day.

Just my opinion

Thanks for the motor oil insight. I'll definietly think about. I've been told weekly washes of the underbody are the best way to keep rust away. I looked into Ziebart but from what I can tell the drill holes into parts of the car. I'm not sure how I feel about that as that just makes more opportunities for rust.
