I need to get behind the radio of my 2008 Armada. I have seen a few threads but with nothing real specific. Does anybody know the exact steps required to remove the radio without breaking anything?

Thanks in advance.

The bezel is only in with clips and it pulls straingt off.

Yeah, I understand that. But how and where do you pull from. Bottom first? Stick a screwdriver betrween the panel and dash and pry it off? That's the detail I need.

I used a small screwdriver and inserted it where the trim meets the dash, put a little pressure on it, (pulling back towards me) and the top half popped off. Then just pop of the lower half. Like Drauden stated, it's only attached by clips so once you get it started it is a piece of cake.

Thanks! With all the buttons and knobs on this thing I was a little worried. It's 1 big piece of (expensive)plastic!

It came off with no issues? I want to pull mine to try to tighten up my AC vents. Didn't you have to pull the lower insert where the 12v power outlets are first? Or does that just come off with it (meaning the upper piece)?

The bottom section is a seperate piece, at least in my 05 it is. Yes - once you get the top section started, it comes off that easy.

Starting with '08 the center stack is one big piece. I think I may need to take a closer look at it.

But in an 08, you can pull the section with the 2 power-plugs and storage compartment independent of the main center stack. I'm just not sure if you can just remove the whole center stack with that lower insert still in place, or if you take it out first.

Just so everybody is aware. My Dashboard looks like this. Not the old Titan based dash.

That is identical to my 08 Armada.

OK I did it. It's actually quite simple. You pull off the black panel under the climate controls. This panel has a storage bin and two power outlets. Just get a firm grip and pull and it pops out. Then you will see 2 screws. You remove those. Then there are two screws not in plain sight. They are actually set at an angle downward toward the opening you made pulling out the black center piece. Remove those two also. Then its just a question of working around the perimieter of the trim plate until all clips detach. Everything comes out attached to the trim plate. so hang on tight.

It goes faster than it sounds. Just be careful not to drop any screws inside, there is not as much room as you would expect back there.

Good luck everybody.

Oh, and by the way. The reason I needed to do this was to install an iSimple Gateway with Bluetooth adapter. It works great! Better than I hoped, and it integrates nicely with the OEM radio. Almost like it was factory installed. Comes with wiring harness so no extra wiring for power or anything.

So far, I recommend it!

Hmmm....something to check into. I was wondering how to add Bluetooth.

But thanks for the directions on taking off the center stack trim plate. I thought those screws had something to do with the removal. I have to find a way to tighten up my AC Vents. They are way too lose and don't stay where I set them. Hit a bump, and they flip upward.

Just so you know. The iSimple devices are designed to work with the iPhone and other Apple products. So YMMV. But, bluetooth is bluetooth, so it SHOULD work with other phones as well.

Thanks. I actually looked into it and passed anyway. I'm not a fan of the instructions for how you select the sources. Not "factory" enough for me.

It's probably about as "Factory" as your gonna get without swapping the system in the dash(probably a multi-thousand dollar option). All you do is select Satellite radio and use the tuning dial to select the input until it says bluetooth. It remembers your selection, so if you're like me and only stream music you are done! If there is a call you press the "Scan" button to answer and hang up. Caller ID even appears on the in-dash screen.

Everything else works as-is. You would never know it wasn't a factory install. Like I said, it works better than I hoped.

Agreed, in terms of looks. But my understanding regarding how you cycle through to get to the additional inputs is what I'm talking about.

Well, like I said, anything not Genuine factory is going to require some manipulation of existing buttons/knobs. Just turning the tune to select an input(they are all essentially auxiliary inputs) seems pretty easy. You not going to get a button to select an input from an add-on.

Thanks for the info Tom I was looking for this info! I am installing the isimple gateway in my 2010 this afternoon. Where did you have the iPhone cable come out? I was thinking of having it one through in the small storage cubbyhole between the lighters? Any thoughts?

I went straight bluetooth. No Cables. But the Cubby is probably where I would go. Good Luck!
