has anyone taken out the armrest console between the two seats in the rear to custom build a sub box there instead?

i was thinking building it thre would be an awesome place to put a box there, and then cover it with leather or vinyl and it can still be functional as a armrest part.

i wanna redo my system and am looking to get lots of bass without losing my trunk space.

i like that stealthbox idea, but then again i can't sincwe i have the power trunk.

and my last option would be putting in two shallow 10s under the driver seat and passenger seat.

oops that would be considered 2nd row armrest right?

JL Audio used that area to install there sub box years ago, then they moved it to the back area side panel of where the motor is for the auto lift gate.

Yeah ditto what NYC said. JL used to have a stealthbox in that 2nd row console, but then moved it back to the rear quarter panel. If you do a search you will likely find some pictures of it, but probably no real build plans. I would be willing to do that to the front one if I got build plans...that console is way too deep to be very functional, every thing finds its way to the bottom & gets lost....kinda like that oversized drink holder right in front of it....Let us know if you find or make a build plan for 10"s in your console.

i never knw jl made that type of enclosure to replace the rear console.

This is from a prior post, you cant find them on JL's site anymore, its been discontinued for a while, before the newer style came in. Here is a link to our site with this picture. Looks like they took the basic console & retro fitted it, I bet we could do this to ours out of fiberglass or MDF to make it like this. If you come up with a design, post up, I am seriously looking for some stealth boxes for my truck, want 10's. I have considered the under the front seats, rear panel & console. I would consider a combination of all or a few. I just dont want to lose cargo space, or have a big box that anyone can look in & see. I want it to look as clean & stock as possible. Let me know...
One other question, I have the bench in the 2nd row & a full 3rd row. Is the middle console the same as the front console? They look to be duplicates. I cant find much use for my front console, its so deep with no pockets or divisions. It & the "oversized cup holder" in front of it, just seem to collect all the junk. If it is the same, I want to make this "mod" to my front console, make it useful for something.

i'm gonna take this pic to the audio installer i've always dealt wit. i've always had big custom systems in all my cars, but all filled up in the trunk, so the trunk became useless.

was this box made for a 10 or a 12 inch and does anyone know the rough estimate of cubic feet? as i have a 12 inch alpine type x and was hoping to use it for the qxer.

i think i'll be going teh mdf route, no fiberglass, i plan to leather wrap it and maybe put the infiniti emblem on the part that dips down, where the cupholders use to be as it kinda looks bare in that area. maybe i'll slap on the oem armrest cover as well?

If you get him to build or modify it, please let us know the dimensions & info. I believe this stealth box came with a 10.
I understand, I had 3 JL W0 10's in the trunk of my civic for years, i was used to the mirror being vertical more than horizontal. I loved it, but had NO TRUNK. Im past the "vertical mirror" days, I just want clean, low bass that I can definately feel, but not so much that I set off car alarms as I drive through the parking lots (anymore). & I dont want to lose my cargo space, in the back or my leg room up front. There is a ton of space in this truck, there should be some "wasted" space that can be recovered for a few 10's. I dont have the factory sub under the seat, so if anyone has one, & can give the actual dimensions, I would love to build 2 & throw shallow subs in.
