Hey all,
I just purchased a 2008 Infiniti QX56 4WD. I love the car. From everything I've read, the front and rear sonar parking sensors come standard on the 08's. My question is, how do you use the front ones? Or rather, how/when to they kick on? I've never heard them activate on the front, even when parking close to a wall, only the rear ones. I read on a forum that the front sonar's only come with the intelligent cruise control package, however every other site I've looked at including edmunds states that front sonar sensors (not intelligent cruise control) is standard on the 08's. Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Sounds like you may have a problem. They should "just work". That is to say as you approach an object you should start hearing a beep. They work just like your back ones.

I don't think that they were standard in 08. We took one just off the truck in Feb 08 that had the ICC package and I believe that included the front sonar. It was a big reason that we waited for it. Do you have 4/5 sonar circles on the front bumper? They look just like the ones on the back bumper.

Interesting. Thanks for the tip. According to all the sites I've read the front sonar on the 08's were a new standard addition. Can anyone definitively confirm this is not the case? I'm out of town at the moment so I cannot confirm whether or not the circles are there but I'll check when I get home.

easiest way is to look for the circles at the front of the bumper as i've read on some sites, they do say its suppose to be standard for 08 but then on others, it says with the intellicruise...

As I recall, the 2008 brochure even said that the ICC package was a late arrival or something to that effect. Again the main reason why we waited a few months to get our 08.

I had posted this same thread months back as I discovered after the fact that it came with that package. I had originally thought that 08's did not have them with the interior/exterior change and they brought them back for 09. Not the end of the world, but would be nice to have front sensors.
