Hello, I have an 05 Armada. Yesterday, I changed all the brake pads on the vehicle. I drove about 5 miles, and the red BRAKE indicator light on the cluster turned on. When I tried to stop, there was a grinding noise coming from the front drivers side of the vehicle, and this continued until I got home. This morning when I got up, I started the car, no light was on, and it drives and stops perfectly.

Im not really a nissan mechanic, but i have done my share of pad changes. pretty simple...remove caliper, compress piston, install new pads, reinstall caliper...

Was there something I missed? Is there something special with these Nissans?

Thanks for the help

its a common problem. You either need an update or new brake booster.

Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by "an update"? is that something I need to go to the dealer for? are there any other symptoms that would indicate needing a new booster. Ive been driving around all day today, so far...no issue. thanks again.

A software update for the braking system. Now if the software update doesn't help and the brake problem still persist then you will need a brake booster which is about $1k installed at the dealer.

Hey does anyone know if the software update MUST happen at a nissan dealership? Closest nissan dealership is several days drive away!

They need the truck so they can update the ECU while they work on the truck
