: Noise from Front End

All - just joined and purchased a 2005 91.5k mile QX56. I'm taking it in this Thursday to have a noise in the front end checked out. It's kind of sounds like tire noise in that it increases/decreases with speed changes. Any ideas? I was able to get all the records of the car from a local dealer and it says the previous owner had the noise checked out about 800 miles ago - they said it was from the front differential.

Do these have issues at this mileage? Any other ideas on what it could be? The tires are relatively new 15k miles but broken in so I don't think it's from them.

Any thoughts would be helpful before my appointment Thursday. (I bought it from a CarMax so have to take it to them in the first 30 days - but I'll probably have the dealer do the work if they agree)

Could be a wheel bearing. Bad bearings can resemble a noisy tire, and Nissan is kind of notorious for bearing failures (the Infiniti FX is a prime example).

Thanks. It turns out it is the front differential. So I'm having that rebuilt and thankfully it's all under my extended warranty so I'm not paying a dime for it.
