: AUX Volume / Alternate Solution

I just wanted to pass along a possible solution for the "lower volume" on the AUX line input.

For owners with the factory installed DVD Player, try connecting your audio source (ipod, satellite receiver, mindisc, etc.) to the RCA inputs on the DVD player instead. I discovered a big increase in volume by doing this (I measured about 10db of gain using pink noise and an SPL meter @70 dB C weighted).

When using the input on the DVD player (depending on your source output connections) the only additional cable you will most likely need is an 1/8th “ stereo male to RCA stereo male available at any local Radio Shack. Then change the “mode” of the DVD player on your remote control, and enjoy your increase in loudness! For all of the Spinal Tap fans out there, now “It goes to eleven…!”

Yes however… unfortunately you will not be able to play your DVD’s at the same time when using this input, BUT- your rear passengers can now enjoy the ability of listening to another source of audio (and or video) from the rear control unit & wireless headphones. (FYI- if you haven’t tried it already, the audio from the AUX input is not accessible from the rear control unit.

Enjoy!

That's a great idea. I'll plug the iPod into the DVD.
Thanks for the idea!
