It's a good change in weather since it's been hot lately. Plus, I can't wait till the snow comes because I'll be up in the mountains snowboarding.

Tell me about it. Go to that site I posted. You can plot the tracks of multiple hurricanes at once. Plot Charley, Frances, and Jeanne from last year and where all 3 cross is where my old apartment was. ;)

Perfect here, sunny, 80 degrees, 10mph wind, 50% humidity, same for the last month. Rained twice in last 6 months. I wonder why real estate is so expensive here? If you like motorcycles as much as I do, it can't be beat. I will take earthquakes any day.

Let's hope she weakens and then hooks south of Florida. Better start making your plans Triple- if she hits where they say Orlando is going to get hammered. I've got an emergency evacuation checklist that I made up during Rita if you want it- my dad and I, having nothing else to do, created a list of supplies to have on hand as well as a checklist of what to do before having to evacuate. PM me and I'll send it to you (.doc file)

FL-Crushin & Triple - the forecast looks worse for us each time they update it. I've got visions of Charley running through my head right now.

Pretty much. I got hit by the eye of Charley, Frances, and Jeanne. My parents have a place on Sanibel Island, just off Ft Myers and my Uncle is in St Pete Beach near Tampa. Depending on which way it goes, someone in the family is going to get it. As for leaving, people flee to here from the coast. I'm safe from water, which is the killer, but wind will be beating the heck out of the area I'm sure. I'm measuring the mada to see if I can get it into the garage. ;)

Just had an idea. If I can't get it in the garage, I may "go to Universal" and "forget" to drive it home from the parking deck. ;)

Just got back from stocking up on supplies - canned goods, water, propane, fuel, etc.

We were w/o power for 22 days total last year so we have a generator and window A/C units and all. We are in a "new" house (33 years old but new to us) now though w/ 10 HUGE oak trees in the yard. Our new roof was just put on about 3 weeks ago so I'm not worried about the roof too much, but I am worried about the trees.

I'm anxiously awaiting the 5:00 forecast model from the NHC.....

Got my eye on her for the time being. If it goes south of Orlando we are looking at winds from either the East or the Northeast. Lots of houses and trees in between me and the outer part of the development. They usually break the wind before it gets to me. Their trees could fall like last year. My roof held up well last year. If the roof stays on and the oaks stay in the ground your only looking at power outage. Lets send up some prayers.

Amen FL! That's all we can do cause it's not in our control.

I'm telling you Triple... If the people in Miami and Naples pray harder than we do, then we are going to be in trouble. Remember last year. Those folks in Tampa prayed the storm right to Orlando. We were off our game a little and got a little complacent. (Hmmmm, something to think about)

Here's a great site that provides A LOT of tropical weather information and also shows not only the NHC model, but a bunch of other forecast models for the storms.

Highly unlikely that she will go away. Information is the answer. Would rather have the info to keep an eye on it than not. No such thing as a Tsunami/Earthquake/Wildfire/Tornado tracking website. I would say that we have the advantage. If it looks like it is coming our way, we can prepare/evacuate, and that is the key.

I wish we have something like that for earthquakes here in California.
we are praying for you and stay vigilant

No way. Already had "Alpha" but passed over Carribean and went out to sea. They started on the Greek Alphabet since they ran out of names. The season isn't over until Dec 1.

That's right FL_Crushin - not to mention there are TWO areas of disturbance they are watching for development right now!

I'm so grateful Central FL escaped this one - but I think South FL got battered more than expected.

I guess I'll take Northeast Wisconsin any day. Right now cloudy and 45 degrees. We are on the downswing of warm temps. Summer was nice upper 80-100 depending on the day. Now starts windchills and lake effect snow (since I am a block away from Lake Michigan). Winchills last year hit 47 below zero on new years. Then it will warm up into the twentys with no wind. Snow can vary from a dusting to 18-20 inches in a single snow squall. I guess I'll take this over hurricanes anyday.
Take care

Remember,

Nobody else can move to Sunny Socal, CA. Its too sunny and no weather problems here. It is a little populated and expensive but worth it.

I think I'd take the risk of a hurricane every once in a while here in Texas than deal with 47 degrees below zero! Brrrrrrr.........

I'm thinking of heading out to Austin.
