All show no go. Pop a supercharger under the hood and I'll respect them. ;)

I'll personally wait till all the bugs are out off the sc and I figured someone out there might really be interested in aftermarket hoods so just helping my fellow armada/titan owners :goteam:

I like them aesthetically, but I'd definitely like it to be a functional scoop. :D

In my opinion it looks pretty bad. Unless there's forced induction or a SC under there, you'll look like a$$ to anyone who knows cars.

I think a slightly raised cowl hood somewhat like the 69 Z28 that uses the existing Armada hood lines would look clean as well as provide clearance for TB's new supercharger.

<<<THIS IS MY OPINION ONLY>>>
I think that it looks like a$$. If it had a Ram Air system, it would be one thing, but since it doesn't leave the hood alone. The MADA is not a tuner!!!

Pretty much, it is just for attention whores. The truck is classy as built. The hood has no function. It doesn't even make space for a supercharger as it is not cut out. Tacky poser stuff.

In contrast, flender flares have function and looks. They stop mud, rocks, gravel, etc. that you find on roads from being kicked up and scratching your paint if you have larger tires. They also fit in with the lines of the truck. Form and function.

The rear wing from burtman also is fine. It isn't a big tacky wing you see on rice mobiles that is gaudy and has no function unless you want less traction for acceleration and worse gas mileage. The Burtman wing blends in with the lines, adding to them, not screaming look at me. It also improves or looks like it improves air flow off the back which would improve mileage slightly and help with larger trailers. Form and function.

The hood is just something that for the most part would just be embarrassing as it shouts I'm a poser and it will put a black eye on others with the SUV through association."Isn't that one of those yo-you bling mobiles?"

Like spinners, most of this stuff will have a cool life of a couple years then be junk. At least spinners can be reversed easily. Other fad crap: neon lighting below car, big trunk wings, leds in washer nozzels, lights that spin around license plates, triple blade color coded windshield wipers, fake phone antennas, wings on hoods. Ones that will be gone soon: huge wheels, lowering, fart pipes, lambo doors. Gimmicks that have no function but to "look good" and like a set of clothes, go out of style just as fast as they come in. Sorry, but I hate that crap. :nana:

PS In looking at the hoods, they are Fiberglass. This style isn't available in carbon fiber. The only positive they could have is they weigh less. The negatives include poor fitting, and above. The only reason you would want a fiberglass or carbon hood is to lower weight for racing purposes. Since the Armada weighs 5400 lbs, loosing 50 lbs is insignifigant 1%. But if you loose this on a 2500lb car, take out interior, rear bumper, replace fenders with fiberglass, etc. you can shed a couple hundred pounds, and make a difference. Just a waste of money. ;)

I feel that this forum helps one another with things that they don't know or things that they might want but can't find. In this forum I have found lots of useful info. But I think that it is to each there own. I personally don't like these hoods, but I posted it to let others know that they are out here. Also in the whole fad thing I think that those fender flares look gay (backwoods, sex with cousin) type of style. and you also mention that cars are for lowering and trucks are for raising, I don't see you with a lift kit on your armada and what function does that have unless your going off roading. And to further my point you really can't go off roading with a suv this big most trails around the county are better suit for a smaller suv/4x4. and to each there own I love my big wheels,I will never see off roading with this truck and I will be what ever. but you know what I go for things that are tasteful to me,because its my money and the funny part is I am half your age :nana: :boxing: :dork: :moon:

I am going off road with it on a regular basis. ITS AN SUV! Also, I'm in Florida. There are plenty of off road situations it would be helpful in. I grew up in Mountains in North Jersey and lived 35 years within a few miles of your location so I know off roading. Smaller is better, but I also need the tow capacity. Examples of good reasons for a lift: fording water, more clearance when going over a hill crest, rock and obstacal crossing, etc. In NJ, I could have used a lift when Floyd flooded out my road, when a flash flood from a rain storm hit and put 18" of water in downtown hoboken, when 2'+ of water stranded me in Newark, when I needed to cross a 1" concrete lane spltter to get out of traffic backed up from an accident, when my buddy turtled his car on a snow mound from a plow, etc. In Florida it works great for flooded roads, sand berms on the beach, etc. Reason I don't have a lift is with only one out, I haven't found one I like yet. I appreciate the find, but its still cheesy. Sorry, but I think the flares look good with wide tires only, they come stock on just about every SUV so it isn't out of the mainstream, and I don't choose my wheels to match my teeth overlays. Guess wisdom does come with age. When I was your age, large plastic neon earings were cool. Shows you how much taste youth generally has. :nana:

I personally think that these trucks are to nice to go off roading with, and like I said to each there own, I think ignorance also comes with age and you have a few. Anyone who is not with your taste you hate on. I have a pair of gator lofers to match my wheels not the teeth. STOP your showing your age (When I was your age, large plastic neon earings were cool). and in final I feel that these vehicles are to be modified in each manner each person feels like because its yours and anyone who hates on what you do :censor: because they are no better than you :nana:

I'm a NY/NJ guy, not Florida, so the gator and good ole' boy references don't work. Also, I'm not hating. Sorry, I'm not agreeing. There is a difference, but they don't teach that in school now. Ignorance also means you don't understand something. I just thought I'd help you understand these things. I fully understand reasons for big cheesy wheels. They are to try to gain attention and promote an image. I just don't happen to feel that is a positive image to project and for that reason, I don't agree with it. Its also a great way to attract cops and attention from undesirables. Again, not ignorance or hate, just disagreement and frustration. Guess you'll understand when you grow up. :comphead:

you don't have to agree but when ever someone post something that is not your taste you have a smart remark!! I personally feel that if I am going to buy wheels I am going to buy something I like and not just to buy wheels. and if you are going to go bigger than go all the way or go home I don't see the point off going after market with anything just to go aftermarket. I am far from ignorant. I am out of high school I am 25 with 3 brand new cars a house and a wife.(did have an off roader but not in my lifestyle anymore)besides I know half of the cops in the area and if I don't know them I know someone who does. and as for undesirables they are every where so if you do one thing after market as ie. 20" wheels it will draw attention. or if that undersirable thinks that you have something in your car or for that matter your car itself than they will do what ever. and as for them going for what I have I will find out in my area and for the most part its parked in my garge or in an area where there is cameras.and as for caring about what anyone else does to there car or suv it doesn't bother me because at the end of the day its not my worry.but if I can help my fellow man with knowledge that they don't know or seen then that is ok with me.( thats why I posted the pics of the hoods, I don't like them I wood personally like a cowl hood) but if some one likes it then hey let them buy. by the whey they also do come in carbon fiber if you look at the website where the hoods are offered. Boring. Sorry, but I like to post my mind. I don't get personal but will defend my views and myself. Big wheels are mostly for looks. But over a certain size, they become a liability. I can't even see if you have any rubber on yours. Do you stop at every pothole? It just isn't practical. I got mine because I wanted 33.5" x 12" tires and they don't make any in 18". That's it. Sorry to disillusion anyone who thought differently. My vette doesn't have a single mod done to it that isn't for performance. Here's what I've done. The stereo was inherited from my buddy who was killed on his ZX7R. I used to install for a living so basicallly it was a freebee.

K&N
Nakamichi MB-75, Soundstream Amplifiers(Reference 200, Granite 120.4, SA164), Boston Acoustics ProSeries(12.5LF, 6.5 Series, 4.5 Series)
AFS Chrome GS Rims (So I can have wider tires and bigger brakes)
Michelin Pilot Sport tires(275-40-17F,315-35-17R)
'96 wiper arms('89-95 had problems hitting each other)
885 Foglights(Stronger light)
GS fender flares(Stock GM parts that keep the new wide tires from spraying the sides with gravel and rain
Power Effects Exhaust(tunable to turn down sound to stock levels and gain power)
C5 Z06 Front Brakes
Hawk Pads
lowered rear(Handling)
camberbrace (Handling)
Hurst shifter(faster shifts)
SPEC Stage III Clutch(to handle the stroker I was planning)
single mass aluminum flywheel(makes it faster)
'94+ glass window top('92 had plastic, not glass rear window)
Sound Deadening Material(vettes are rattleboxes)
HAL Qa1 Shocks(best shocks available for handling

No silly junk like chrome door handles or tailight covers. Sorry, but I don't care how it looks, just how it goes. I didn't buy it for show and wouldn't care if it looked like a vega as long as it performed the same way.

Call me old school, but I am into changing things that improve something, not for the sake of change, nor for attention. My G35 has new tires(Same rims) and window tint(Its hot in FL) but that's about it. Wanna go big? Get a H1 Hummer or a Supercharged landrover. Do what you like, but don't ask me to like it or praise it. I will respect the right for you to do it, but I'm still gonna speak my peace. I've been a car guy now for 20 years, working on them for 30 so I kinda understand what will and won't last as a trend also.

Now who's gonna get me the deal for the turbo laser tailpipe? Can I get the spinner to light up neon?

I really enjoy this site alot. Well let me explain my self. Most of us seem to want to share ideas and photos we find of interesting things on Mada's. I dont really think any of us sharing these things would neccessarily run out and modify our Mada to look like the phot, but some will. What I find interesting is the comments by some members who, in my humble opinion, are overly opinionated, sometimes to the point of being rude. In other words I dont sive ghit if you like it or dont like, or you think its dumb, or lame, or that you wouldnt put it on YOUR Mada. But i do care that when you open your mouth that you insult the member who brought this photo or idea to the other members. I purposely omitted pointing fingers but hey if the shoe fits.....> :moon:

Yes, personal attacks did not start until the post listed on top. All the previous post were opinions and not directed at anyone in particular. If you post a question and don't get the answer you like, I suggest ignoring it and not rebut with an insult to the specific individual. Deal with it and move on.

On another note, there are a few posters that could really stand to download the free google toolbar which includes a spell check button.

Now your really reaching. I grew up with 20 miles of you. All towns up there have potholes due to winter freezing water under the roads. That part of the country is famous for potholes. You need to get south of the frost line to loose potholes. Say Virginia south? I don't even slow down going over speed bumps with my 20s. Train tracks you don't even notice at speed. ;)

Was there a point quoting you spent $10K on ugly rims. Who cares how much they cost? Personally, you could have had my rims and a supercharger installed professionally for the same money, or maybe an Italian leather pit couch, 65" High def TV, and surround sound system, or a jet ski, or a quad, or a, well you get the idea. ;)

Lambo doors are silly. Its just the flavor of the month. It was cool when 2 guys had it done. Now its too common to care. The grille is probably the least obnoxious part of the truck. ;)

Well if he lives in the house he posted in the pic of your mada infront of your house, his mada probably cost more. It looked like a 1400 ft townhouse. Its called priorities. ;)

For the same price he could have done this:

Here's some more pics. 22" rims, 35" TOYO tires, 8" lift, Fox shocks. Guess being a SEMA vehicle doesn't rate and tacky rims do on the "Muscle factor" scale. ;)

Viscous. Not really. Just observant. I did say if. And I'm just beating on his wheels, not him.
Quotes from my fiance, who is from Jersey City/Bayonne area (She's used to this stuff), when she saw the wheels:
Ewww. Are you kidding me? They look like fans. They're ugly. They cost what? He's crazy. Sorry, but that seems to be the general thought outside the hip hop crowd. Revenge is a dish best served cold. -Old Klingon proverb.

My priorities are straight, my wife and I both enjoy making are truck look as good as it can, if it takes us another year till we can save the money to pull it off, then so be it. I have read it before and I agree, i love seeing hoods that I may not buy, but still appreciate them, i love the 26" mada on bags with scissor doors, and why not, it shows the far extreme of the modding capabilities of these trucks. The fact that triple and scr have beautiful homes and what not only shows their personal success in life, hell SCR I believe is retired, and God Bless Him!

We all measure success in a different way, maybe a 1400sq ft place is all they need to be satisfied, not all of us need a new posh crib. My wife and I life in a nice 3 bedroom split level that is less then 1800 sq ft, but it's only the two of us. I owned an A4 and an A8 at the same time as well as my Durango. I totaled the Durango last August in a terrible storm and I was lucky to walk away from the accident. Buying this truck was nothing more then an educated purchase of a quality vehicle, not a status.

Hopefully we all can leave our differences aside and return to sharing the wonderful information that we have begun to expect here since everyone here has a very important role and plenty of great stuff to add to the forum.

Sorry to rant....But I really enjoy being here, and it's a shame to have some of the biggest contributors wrapped up in threads that are not sharing positive info. Once again, sorry for the soap box....Flame on!!

Oh. go hug a tree and feel better. Sing Kumbayah at the same time. ;) I think I contribute loads of positive stuff, or at least I try to. But from my comments, I was mocking the rims, not the man. Who cares where you live? What you make? As long as you are happy and healthy its all good. Glad to hear you are OK from your accident. I broke a windshield myself a year ago and have permanent spine damage and pain for life. I don't cry about it. Move on.

But again, its all about priorities. Why put $10k towards tacky rims, and then brag about it, unless you are making a huge sum of cash? I'm not putting anyone down and never would for not making money or having things. I'm just pointing out a judgement call.
Here's an interior to match the rims. I like the chrome in the seats myself. ;)

Hey Eclipse man, here's a good rule to follow.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. ;)

See Triple..the thing that makes the point even more percise, I was never criticizing you, I was merely using the example of your nice pic of the Mada in front of the model of your new house, but instead you take it that I'm criticizing you. I paid the compliment that you contribute allot of great info to the board....Such is life. :D

:noworries The problems with boards is that there are many ways to read things and many ways to interpret them. Much more easy to misinterpret a statement than in a face to face conversation. Its frustrating sometimes. :pullout:
Have a good one.
And remember, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and leaky tire. ;)

-20 mins. away in north jersy, unless you use to live in montague ,nj then that is BS
I could care less what you or your fiance think of my wheels I bought them not you
-PRIORITIES let me guess you are say 50 and you are now get married and buying a house that sounds like priorities

30s, not sure where you got 50s from. I grew up in West Milford, accross the border from Tuxedo and Suffern. Lived in Nanuet also. Same backyard. I've been to just about every town within 100 miles of there and they all have potholes.
And you have an SER that is in the 13s quarter, 0-60 in 5 seconds, and can break 165mph and pulls over a G in corners? I'd like to see some pics and specs. ;)

This thread has gone to the dawgs, basically everyone has their own reason for buying an Armada and even more ways to use it or modify(or not) it to their own taste. I tend to lean heavily into function and not towards style. I myself bought this truck to for its mechanical strengths and roominess, style was not very high on the list. If you guys are into style and bling, so be it. But please don't think of us functionally obsessed folks as hillbillies or style challenged, we just prefer our resources ($) directed at other areas. Peace.
