I see different things on the web, that is stating they could increase your hp and 10% of your mileage and some even say 30 % , is this true or just bull?

Well hello there! Welcome to ClubArmada! Are you talking about products like the "Tornado Fuel Saver"? They are all garbage. To increase gas mileage on the Armada, maintain your tire pressure at 35 psi and put the Armada in Cruise Mode when can :)

You get what you pay for. Most of these are snake oil that people are selling to take advantage of a lack of regulations and people crying about high gas prices. I have yet to see any one of these give any mileage improvements. ;)

This is simple physics people, there is no free lunch. Don't buy a +5,600lb SUV with +300 HP and +9,000lb tow capacity if you don't like the care&feeding of a vehicle like this. What does everyone expect, a Honda Civic? This is a large heavy TRUCK with a big powerful thirsty engine. To move something big and heavy requires a lot of energy. Energy = gasoline, there is no mystery here. I just got through reading about a naive new owner that is shocked by the low fuel economy he has gotten. HELLO!! :confused:

Its funny I get alot of interest in my truck and the first thing I tell folks is that the gas mileage is not great...there response is usually..oh...anyway hows the interior, sound, how does it drive, etc...Bottom line if you can afford the truck you can afford the gas.

I have never understood the fuel thing myself. (Not bashing the original poster of this thread, so please don't take it that way). Think he is just wanting to "optimize" his milage if he can. Back to what I was saying, however:

Amazing people can spend $40,000 plus on a big SUV that is a monster in towing, motor, weight, etc...and then complain about the milage? Seems to me, if you have to TRULY complain about milage, perhaps you cannot afford the truck in the first place? Kinda like someone buying a 5,000 sf house and then griping b/c the electric bill is $600/mo!%!$%! :eek: :p

Just chiming in on this one, and not meaning to bash, so please take with a GOS.

This has always baffled me also. If you drive 15000k a year and improve your mileage by 33% from 15 to 20 mpg, this would only save you $43.75 a month. Big deal. And most people are looking for 1 or 2 mpg improvement, which is like 50 cents a day. Who cares. I think its more an emotional response than a rational one. :rolleyes:

i really dont understand mpg calculation......i get 500 km which equal around 310miles from a full tank...city driving only...does that sound about right? what do you guys get out of a full tank?

This has always baffled me also. If you drive 15000k a year and improve your mileage by 33% from 15 to 20 mpg, this would only save you $43.75 a month. Big deal. amen to that.. plus no one forced you to buy this kind of truck. you know what you're getting into when you bought this truck so please no more complaining that you're only getting 12 miles a gallon.. just fill up the tank and lets all drive and have fun :D

I have just read the September issue of Popular Mechanics, where they test seven of these fuel saving devices. They all lost power, made mileage worse or both......worse than snake oil then :D

The way you find out your mileage is to fill your tank, read the mileage, drive around, and then when you fill again, see how many gallons you put in and how many miles you went.

We have a 28 gallon tank but mine reads empty with 5 gallons left so if I did the calculation with 23 gallons vs. 28 gallons, it would be a very different story. So if you say how many gallons you put in to get 310 miles, we can calculate the mileage. ;)

EX.
310 miles/28 gallons used = 11 mpg
310 miles/23 gallons used = 13.5 mpg

Sorry Dookiedog we do tend to stray off topic or off on a tangent sometimes but the consensus I think points to this conclusion that these devices don't work and some are even dangerous or may damage your engine.

To realistically expect some Armada owners to significantly improve the efficiency over what a corporate army of engineers/designers/technicians that took years to design is a reach to say the least.
I think driving technique can have more effect than any hardware; accelerate slowly, use brakes as little as possible/coast as much as possible.

Sorry, but I didn't mean to insult anyone, we all aware of the MPG. believe it or not, the technology is there to save gas and increase MPG, and the auto makers have it and know what to do, but they don't want to introduce it in their vehicles b/c the oil companies are paying the automakers large sums of money for not to introduce a gas vehicle which will save you money on gas, and the oil prices will drop from $55.00 or so a barrel to maybe $5.00. and all the advertisement you see on T.V and in the magazines for devices claiming to help your MPG is a B.S. :damn:

After talking to the Nissan guy, he reccomended using Chevron Plus gas and using the Nissan additive....I forgot the name. I tried it and saw a jump of about 2.5 mpg, from 11 to 13.5. After a while that has dropped to about 12.3. I am going to add another bottle of the $15 additive in a bit to see if it goes back up.

Just because some people are trying to improve their mileage, doen't mean that they can't afford the vehicle. Some people on this forum actually get significantly better milage than others. Is it mods, how they drive, or just variances between vehicles?

One thing I have learned about new cars, is that you should expect to get close to what the sticker states for city driving most of the time, even if you do some freeway driving. It seems rare that many people consistently get what the freeway driving is rated at on the sticker.

For me trying to get better gas mileage is more like a hobby, when I want too drive aggresively I do. But messing with the beast, for whatever reason is fun, more power, better mileage, or appearances.

Even if you were able to increase your MPG by 10% it would add up. Would save me about $7 per tank, at one tank a week I would save over $350 per year. If you don't care about that kind of money, then why shop your car insurance, or anything else?

:thumbup: I say we start a thread about the WORST mileage?!? The Mada doesn't have an on the fly milage estimator, or at least mine doesn't without Nav (maybe Nav comes with it?). Anyway...curious to see what the worst is? Anyone got down to 8mpg? My old truck, prior to the Armada was a 2004 Duramax CrewCab Diesel...what a HAUS of a truck pulling machine! I once had 4 guys, full of gear, pulling a 16 ft trailer with 4 motorcycles on it, laid into it at low speeds on an on-ramp and not only did it SMOKE the rear wheels, but it also got the fuel milage estimator to 1 mpg!!!!!!!!!! LOL We were trying to get it to register 0, but never could. LMAO!!!!
