Well as somewhat predicted my relatively new 05 Armada SE 4X4 Smoke rolled up easily to around 3700 miles and the dreaded brake shudder, judder, shake began. The billowing clouds of black brake dust had started from mile Number 1. Prior to purchase the master tech I've been using for both my Nissan's had warned about the brake issues and said that if I bought one and it was not quite up to par upgrade wise he would get it resolved. Fortunately at the 3750 service interval, I took it in and they replaced the front rotors, resurfaced the rear rotors and put on all new pads on all four corners. Brakes feel good so far. Too early to tell on brake dust.

When was your Armada manufactured? I've got an 05 LE that was built in July 05. I've seen posts that all trucks built after 5/05 should have been manufactured WITH the new brakes, but I'm a skeptic. I've got 1200 miles now and I'm just gonna watch what happens...

The good news guys is that the permanent fix will take care of this pretty painlessly.

Mine was built 06/05 and I have excessive brake dust in the front. It's a sign that we dont have the upgraded brakes. anyway after my Mada hit 3000 miles brought to my dealer and played the game (complained about the judder). and they fixed brakes. Replaced 2 front rotors, machined rear rotors, replaced 4 pads and bolts.

Yeah, I had dust for the first 100 miles or so. But, since the first wash, I haven't really seen any at all. So, my fingers are crossed that I've got the fixed setup, but like I said, skeptic that I am I'll wait and see what they feel like around 3000 mi.

Pretty sure it has a April 05 production date. My master tech also confirmed that there is not a clean date line between upgraded vs. unupgraded production dates.

I sure hope so. I don't want to follow the footsteps of some of these other folks with multiple visits over a long period of time.

My 2004 Armada had the brake job done but still present an intermittent brake problem. Suddenly the brake light goes on and when applying the brakes you can hear a strange noise and a vibration. The problem will go away when the ignition is turn off. If I start the engine again inmediatly the brake problem is gone. The ABS module was replaced and the car was problem free (brakes) for one and a half month. Last Saturday the problem reappeared. :damn: The last problem was that a oil transmission line broke  I am requesting a lemon law case.

Well it has been about 1500 miles since my brake upgrade/replacement. Brakes well. Pedal is firm. And very little or no more brake dust pouring out on to the wheels!
