Has anyone figured if you can and how to mount a snowboard rack to the existing factory rack? The spread between the front and rear racks is so big that it is tough to do. I found a website that offers a roof rack extension to solve that problem. But, in reading some posts I have been hearing about problems finding mounts to attatch to the factory rack. Has anyone tried to use Vertical Mighty Mounts and a rack extension kit on thier Armada? Here is a website I found with the rack extension and vertical mighty mounts. I want to mount a Yakima Big PowderHound SE.

Any info or thoughts are appreciated. I think I will call them on Monday and see what they have to say about it.

Yea, I tried to buy a Yakima carrier for the roof and it didnt fit. Why did nissan do that? since the front and rear arent connected, the rack seems to be useless unless you spend $200 more for the extender. I wonder why its like this, even though the pathfinder and xterra have great racks!

This is weird ... I went up to the slope during last X'mas and I managed to carry my buddy's snowboard without any issue. I have the Yakima ski rack and I purchased Nissan Vertical Mightymount to mount the ski rack. The only issue is the binding for the snowboard needs to face up instead of down since there was not enough clearance. I moved the rear cross bar to the nearest point to the front.
P/S: Attached is the picture of my MADA with the Yakima Ski Rack and a snowboard on top.

Have the same set up with no issues.

Yea, i saw a lot of armada's this week with the snap on ski racks. I was looking to add a Yakima Hard Shell. I bought one only to return it before I left the parking lot because of the fit issues. The nissans hard shell seems to snap on the cross bar extender and the front bar which makes the shell hang over the front of the car, it looks kind of stupid. and it makes the purchase of a "car topper" a $500 expense instead of 200$ because of the extender's $200 price tag. I wish i knew why nissan did this to the rack?

I got this thule ski rack which comes with integrated mounting hardware. Works perfectly for me on my Armada. IT has 8 screws for mounting so it is not really a snap on type of mount but I normally mount it at the beginning of winter and take them off at the end
