I just return from the dealership after having some service work done, Ie. alignment and tire rotation among a few other things. The dealership said I need new tires very soon. It seems my stock Goodyear Wranglers, which only have 14,500 miles on them are alomst worn out. My tread depth measures 3/32", and down from 10/32" on the 04 Armada when purchsed. I cant believe Nissan puts such wearable tires on our rides. Again with only 14,500 miles on these tires it seems excess to have them worn down so fast. I've contacted GoodYear Corporate and they are having me go by a Goodyear tires store for inspection and review before making a determination about my complaint. Ive been researching tires and there isnt alot out there for replacemtn of a 267/70R18. I really like the Bridgstone A/T Revo at around $181 per tire mounted. But Ive also looked into a Kuhmo tire, which has good review on tirerack.com.
My question is: Does anyone have Kuhmo tires on their Armada, or can you recommend this tire brand? What is a good replacemtn tire besides the Michelin Brand for our ride?

I can tell you that I have had any tire that is in teh market on all my cars and Kuhmo's are the best in my opinion, (form exeption of Mickey Thompson, but that for racing reasons). In concernt o reliability, quality and grip. Kuhmo's are the best to me. But hey like I always say, this is a matter of opinion...

I have about 21,500 miles on the mada and have decent tire depth left, but I have rotated 3 times. The front right tire seems to wear out the fastest. It started off as feathering, now it seem very uniformally wearing faster than the others. I believe the alignment could have been better from the factory, but as threads on here have shown, the alignment isn't so far off that it will show up on a computer so they do nothing. My answer is rotate religiously and you will get the most life out of your tires.

I rotated the Contis on my 04 Armada twice a year, I only average about 9000 miles a year. I just bought a new set of Revos (stock size). The Contis only have 15,800 miles on them and they are about to hit the tread wear indicators, they wore pretty evenly. Judging by the ride home from the tire store the Revos seem to handle and ride better than the Contis. I guess the fact that tire rack is selling the Contis for under $90.00 pretty much says it all, JUNK! Taking a road trip tomorrow so we'll see how the Revos stack up.

I wouldn't touch Kumho tires. The Koreans have a long way to go. They're a good cheap alternative, but that's about it. If you consider how important your tires are, spend the money and get good ones.

Samsung and LG make some good stuff so it's not because they're Korean.

I have almost 32,000 miles on the OEM Contis. Looks like they will easily go another 15-20K before they touch the wear indicators. The Contis are not a very good tire, but I have had zero problems with them.

Agree, I wouldn't buy Korean made tires (Kumho) or custom wheels made in China. But I trust Samsung and LG, too.

The only issue I have with the stock Contis are they are hard to balance. I have shimmy on freeway speed until I had them for road-forced balance. Almost all of the shimmy went away and I could feel some.
The other alternative besides Revo is Michelin Cross Terrain. They are available at Costco.

I have been running Kuhmo's on my cars for about 5-7 years. You will be hard pressed for me to go back to any other brand, except for snow tires. (The ones I have on my car suck below about 50 degrees.) I have some Blizzacks for that... :-)

I would run them in less than a heartbeat. Awesome tire for the price and I have had NO issues with them at all.

If you've got stock Goodyears, you have the off road wheels and they are 17". I believe Titans only came with Goodyears stock on 18" wheels. We had contis. I'd look at Revos or Michelin Cross Terrain SUV as replacements for 18". Why get "average" when you can get great for almost the same price. Both will last longer also. ;)

If you have 18's then you might be happy with BFG All-Terrains. They're very sturdy, but pretty hard for strictly road driving. AND they come in a stock size that works on the 'Mada with no modifications. I bought 4 earlier this year and took them to Mexico on the WORST :censor: road I've ever been on. That same road took out two of my stock Conti's last year. Search for some other posts I've made about the trip and the tires. PM or e-mail me if you want more details.
