Would you think an SE would have the wiring for an electric lift gate? I have a chance to get all the necessary parts to upgrade my armada.

I have it, and hardly ever use it, IMHO not worth the trouble. CDNArMaDa 11-21-2006, 12:17 AM I have it, and hardly ever use it, IMHO not worth the trouble. R U talking about the power rear hatch???? or something else. i use the remote open all the time, i don't think i've ever actually opened or closed the rear hatch manually since i bought the truck. Its great, especially grocery shopping, you can have the hatch open before you get there with the cart. its the feature that really got me interested in the Mada in the first place tg Matrix 11-21-2006, 12:42 AM Id like one wherever you got it. I need hands free for the groceries. Personally it is more trouble fumbling with the keys in the middle of the parking lot and then having to put them back in my pocket so I can use both hands to load my stuff then having to fish them out for a second time for the ignition. To each their own, besides, my wife works at a grocery store and drives our 4Runner so I very rarely have that type of stuff to do. I ride my motorcycle on non-rainy days (97% of the time) to work so the Armada is regulated as our vacation/hauling/tow vehicle and has very few miles on it, as it sits in the garage mostly. Also where I work is a very secure location so I don't even have to lock the truck when I am there, I even leave my keys in my motorcycle. It was the right-hand foot pedal that convinced me to buy the Armada, I don't need no stinking buttons. Daytona-Armada 11-21-2006, 05:16 AM It may get in some peoples way, but It really is nice. Its part of the reason we purchased the Armada. Its raining, hit the button from inside the car, get out and the rear is waiting open for you. Simply love it. andy 11-23-2006, 01:21 AM I love the power lift gate. I probably get more second looks when that gate closes all by itself. Not sure if any other SUV has this feature. Cillyone 11-23-2006, 01:59 AM This is slightly off subject but I wish the Armada had a old style tailgate, rather than a hatch type. My 1990 4Runner has the old style with the power window that rolls down into the tailgate and then the tailgate flops down like a pickup, extending the load platform for long objects. 15 years ago we had a friend of the family who owned an Exploder and hates foreign vehicles tell me what a wimpy POS 4Runner is and how great his junky transmission-eating Exploder is. My wife loaned an exercise machine to them and he had to call us up to haul it back because it would not fit into his hatched Exploder. I cannot tell you the sh*t eating grin I had when I easily hauled the machine in my wimpy tailgated 4Runner. The old runners have the versatility of a pickup because of this feature and are really nice to sit on. Sixteen years later his Exploder is in the boneyard and our little wimpy 4cyl 4Runner is still going strong, looking like it is good for another 16. I make it a point to drive it when we visit them. andy 11-23-2006, 03:42 AM This is slightly off subject but I wish the Armada had a old style tailgate, rather than a hatch type. I used to have an '86 4runner. Removable top, V6, and loved it. You are right. that had the best designed rear / door glass on it. If I didn't seize the engine by sucking river water through it, I'd still be driving it. galaktified 11-23-2006, 09:45 PM I was looking into this mod a while back and I called one of the shops that does mods and they said it wasn't possible..so did the Nissan dealer that we go to. Wonder if anyone has done this mod... Wonder if anyone has done this mod... Yeah I heard it wa "impossible" too, but what makes it different from them putting the liftgate on by the assembly line versus aftermarket? I mean the body is the same (minus the obvious workings of the power liftgate) but if they put it on, someone else can as well. inqui-Z-tor 11-30-2006, 10:09 AM This is slightly off subject but I wish the Armada had a old style tailgate, rather than a hatch type. Oh man.. you got the old-style 4Runner .. before it got "civilized". I was seriously considering a 4Runner (back then) mainly because of that feature. Besides .. back then .. Toyota trucks were built like tanks .. Most of my friends that have 'em .. won't give 'em up, either. Remind him that even though it says NISSAN it was built in the USA, Canton, Mississippi! trinidad 12-04-2006, 02:45 PM Would you think an SE would have the wiring for an electric lift gate? Thanks Trinidad Mivicon 12-07-2006, 03:55 PM I would think this would be an expensive install. The whole left rear interior panel is different where the liftgate actuator is located. We love the power liftgate. It wasn't a deciding factor for us though, most 07 SUVs have it now. (The Armada was ahead of it's time). Cillyone, do you actually pull the liftgate down to close it? Or do you hit the little button and walk away? Common, be honest. You hit the button don't you... :D | |
