My keys and remote went through 2 hours in the pool and a washer/dryer cycle today.
I was shocked that it still works perfectly. All the white on the buttons is gone, but the remote keeps on workin!

I opened it up just to look inside. Completely dry.

I have done this more than once myself. But it just wasn't just my key fob. It was with my key fob once or twice, my cell phone once and my iPod Nano. All of them still worked except the Nano. It did power on but the screen said to call Apple support desk. But I hated the Nano anyway, it was way too small and I wanted to upgrade to the 30G video.

My last cell phone (Motorola V600) dropped while running through the rain one day last year and I didn't realize it for almost 20 minutes. I went back and found it, pulled the battery out and gave it a day to dry then fired it back up. Never had an issue. The cell phone I had previous to that (Samsung) I dropped in the lake at the Marina, same deal gave it a day and it fired right back up. It's amazing how resilient these electronics are.

The only down side is that if any moisture did get in it may impact you months down the road from corrosion.
