: 4x4 trip in the West!!!
razzlee 09-15-2006, 01:57 PM All right, anybody out here on the left coast intersted in an all-Nissan off road excursion? I'm up for just about anything!! I will drive 1000 miles for two days of fun! I'm a total 4x4 NOOB, but I've got a head full of comon scense and willingness to take calculated risks.
I was checking out some different clubs that do some pretty good trips up here in Oregon but they're almost exclusivly CJs and small P/Us. All the full size guys are ridin' on 44s with skyjacker lifts! We need to form a group thats just the right fit! Anyway, all you 4x4 armada owners out here in the West, lets get something going!!
BTW, I'll be down in Vegas for a week for Halloween! I could find a way to ditch the family to play in the sand!
BLACK QX 09-15-2006, 04:38 PM Man that would be awesome. I would have to put a different set of wheels though on my Q. Depending on what type of offroading your taking about I might consider it. Never done it before, always wanted to though.
Campfamily 09-15-2006, 04:42 PM Pismo Beach, for a weekend of fun in the sand?
BLACK QX 09-15-2006, 07:18 PM Pismo Beach, for a weekend of fun in the sand?
Pismo is a good idea. Took my landcruiser up there one time for some fun. Not a bad idea.
razzlee 09-15-2006, 10:24 PM Well, I grew up in Fresno, so Pismo apeals to me for memories sake. I live 25 mile south of Oregon Dunes, however, so I play in the sand ALOT! I was kind of thinking of the mountains or dessert. I'd realy like to hit the rubicon trail, but my lack of experience makes me wary.
BlackQX, I would recomend some other tires. It looks like you don't have more than an inch and a half of sidewall (NICE WHEELS!) so you wouldn't be able to bag your tires. But who's to say everyone's rig needs to go everywhere? We could meet up somewhere close to the trails and "carpool":D
Anyway, I'm glad you guys responded! Lets see if we can't make some noise and get some others interested!
I would also be happy to host a trip to the Oregon Dunes! Getting my Mada unstuck has become second nature, so I can be of some help to off-road newbies.
razzlee 09-16-2006, 04:06 AM here is a good article for beginners. My thought is; if an H3 can do it, we should be able to STOMP this trail!

docpaulo 09-16-2006, 05:02 AM how much offroading will the stock contis allow?
Sounds like an interesting idea...
razzlee 09-16-2006, 01:37 PM They would do fine on logging roads and the like. They might be ok in sand as well. Just let out some air, down to 15psi. This will widen your wheels and give you more grip. When you bag your tires, however, you need to drive with more care. Sudden turns at higher speeds can roll your tires right off the rims. I've never seen this happen, but I keep it in the back of my head anyway.
I have seen a freind gun it in 1st gear with bagged tires while stuck in the sand. You can actually see the tires spinning on the whell:eek:
SilverQShip 09-16-2006, 02:56 PM IM INTERESTED!!!!!! but i think the rubicon trail is gonna be extremely hard for these rigs. Seeing that we're about two wranglers long. Rubicon trail is very tight and narrow. and are rigs are very big and wide but going trail driving and possibley mudding sounds very fun.

Any suggestions?
SilverQShip 09-16-2006, 09:48 PM I just wanna go, i have no idea about trails and what not. lol, someone should find an easy trail for us. Cillyone recommended Stanislaus forest for offroading though,
docpaulo 09-17-2006, 01:20 AM My Mada's still 2 weeks old with less than 300 miles on it...
Should I wait until after the break in period before off roading it?
Let's start with a tame course and move up to tougher ones depending on how everybody wants it...
New to WA so no idea where to go...

Welcome to the club docpaulo! Yeah, I think you should get some miles on the odometer before you do too much. I have not broken the 6000mile mark yet and I've been off-road quite a bit.
There are some cool trails in Oregon that would be cool. I can put together a day of trail riding and hit the dunes too! There are some logging roads that cross streams and rivers, only when they built them, they put them 8-12" under water! It's real cool to get some water shots without doing any damage to your rig! Also, after rain we get some great mud!
If everyone is interested, do a direction search on map quest to bandon oregon, 97411. let me know how far away you are. Also, does anyone golf?
SilverQShip 09-17-2006, 02:15 PM I live about 9 1/2 hours away or about 540 miles.
SilverQShip 09-19-2006, 04:13 PM We should head to this place http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-pictures-media-post/44326-titans-rescue-dodge-off-road-trip.html Its in California, Azusa OHV area. i guess we could go muddin and do the trails or vice versa.
BlakSpyda 09-19-2006, 04:22 PM Whatever you guys decide to do, don't forget the camera like I did. I am sure we all would like to see your action shots of the Armada/QX 4X4 Round-Up!

Last time I was up there, it was full of drunks and crazy people. I felt glad to be out of there with my life!
I'm not sure, but it might be closed right now, because of the fire danger. I live about 10 miles away, I'll look into it.

Than kind of reminds me of when I bought my firs 4X4, a 1990 Montero LS. I lived in Mississippi (Stationed there) and all of them Good Ole boys kept inviting me out for some 4 Wheelin', usually it was in the evening!
Me being Black and from Brooklyn (:rolleyes:Hmmmm!) with a brand new truck respectfully declined! Besides, I saw how their trucks used to come back... or get towed back!

Man that looks like fun! I dont think Id want to take my Q there though. That "mud bowl" looks awesome, would love to drive through that.
SilverQShip 09-19-2006, 10:12 PM Im willing to take my Q there, i dont feel safe with conti craps though. dont wanna get stuck in the middle of the mud bowl. W/e ill just floor through there :) . ANyone know of a good place in northern California that we can have an offroad meet at?
razzlee 09-19-2006, 10:41 PM yeah, NorCal is the best bet. Lets all do some reserch!
razzlee 09-19-2006, 10:44 PM Oh yeah, we DO NOT want to go "muddin'" Trail running is fun. Being outdoors, willing to stop and enjoy the scenes. Running a rig through the mud like an over sized swine is not for me!
06armadaSE4x2 09-20-2006, 01:02 PM sounds like a lot of fun. No matter where you guys end up going. Be careful and post pictures for us on the EAST Coast without a club....
Qx_indulgence 09-22-2006, 12:32 AM Im interested!!! If SilverQShip goes i guess ill see him on the freeway considering we live in the same city :) . For a suggestion i guess we could go offroading at laurel creek in mammoth. That might be wayyy tooo easy for your rigs considering ford escapes can make it easily. WE could either go to hollister hills or death valley as well.
Qx_indulgence 09-23-2006, 01:57 AM Waddya guys think?

Death vally sounds real cool. Late fall-early winter would be great in the desert. Where is Hollister Hills? Too easy is ok. I can always find challenges! Plus, it should be fun for everyone. How far south is Mammoth? It's getting a little late in the season for mammoth though.
Qx_indulgence 09-23-2006, 04:31 AM Hollister hills is an OHV area in the town of hollister its about 30 miles north east of monterey. Trucktrend did a comparison test and they took the rigs to hollister hills for the offroad test. It was Titan vs rangerover, vs G55 vs other trucks.

That sounds like alot of fun! Can we get everyone to agree on this spot? Should we share this trip with CT? I definatly want to see the QXers there!
We need to deside on a date as well.
BTW, who won Titan vs. Rangerover?
Qx_indulgence 09-23-2006, 02:17 PM Hollister hills sounds fun! Ill give you a link to the offroad test http://www.trucktrend.com/roadtests/ultimate/163_0412_4x4_challenge/index.html
I think we should start seeing how many members will be able to make it. I did see this post on freshalloy's forum by silverqship, but no replies. I guess ill post it on the armada part of freshalloy as well. I think we should keep this an armada/qx offroad meet only since we've never had one before.
lincey 09-23-2006, 05:10 PM Hey, whats up. visiting from clubtitan. I'd definantly be interested in tagging along with you fella's (and ladies) for an offroading excursion in the west/north west. I'm currently located in portland...best places i've found to offroad is central oregon in the desert, or over on mt. hood.
ggeorgie 09-23-2006, 05:21 PM Welcome and its good to have ya:cool:
Qx_indulgence 09-23-2006, 06:58 PM Alright, cool 4 so far and hopefully more to come:).
razzlee 09-23-2006, 09:21 PM where can we post a list?
Qx_indulgence 09-24-2006, 01:36 AM I guess you could start a new thread in the "clubarmada meets" thread.

how about if everyone P/Ms me and I can add it to my Gallery...?
Qx_indulgence 09-24-2006, 05:26 AM alright that sounds good
razzlee 09-24-2006, 05:47 AM All right everybody, send me a P/M and I'll post it on my gallery. I've got a list started. We need to get as many people as possible to make this trip worth it to those who have to travle more than a couple hours.
Also, we need to nail down a timeframe. Personaly, I will need to take a long weekend from work as this will be quite a drive for me:D
As I've stated before, I will be in Las Vegas for ten days around Halloween, so this is a bad time for me.
Keep up the posts! Lets get this thing to happen. If we have to change the place or time, lets be willing to accomodate. I CAN"T WAIT!!
Qx_indulgence 09-26-2006, 07:33 PM Anyone else? i know there was a guy with a titan that wanted to go, raz maybe you should extend this invite to club titan members as well.

I put out an invite to CT already. I think I'm going to have to put something together localy with a specific date in mind and put out an open invite on CA.
I brought up golf before because we have one of the best golf courses in the world right here in Bandon. Plus we have the Oregon Dunes for drifting. Then we have some great mountain roads for some nice off-roading.
