Most of them just plug into the harness behind the radio.

it is easy it has the instructions with it. i got the shop to do it for free for me. also there are diffent ones for different brand stereos. here are some ebay pics

I got mine from PERIPHERAL, and like TB said, it plugs into the existing harness in the back. Just make sure to follow the diagram and get a good solid ground. Then program according to the way you want it. Sort of like a LEARN mode on the PERIPHERAL unit itself, actually it has codes so that the control on steering unit follows it. Just time consuming, but no major deal.

i have the eclipse avn 5500 with the pac unit but it wasn't exactly plug and play but not too hard to instal.

I read up on the instructions and based on the one for pioneer you can plug the system into the wired remote on the back of the unit. Now when you say the harness what color wire is on the harness and which one? Thanks
