That is kind of a broad question and it depends on your region. Are you in San Jose or just from there? You have to find out what works best in your region. I live on the East coast and my A/C needs are different than what is required in Texas or Mississippi. Hell My A/C needs are different from someone in Florida or New Hampshire.

We use the A/C most of the year here in SE Texas. If I was going to replace my units now I would go with American Standard. Their units are quite, efficient and durable.

My house is being built with 3 Lennox units for 3 zones. I've heard good things about these but I couldn't tell you if they were the best or not. ;)
