But to try not to be a grinch, I do like ONE mod he did. Nice Front door window tint. ;)

well, from what i've heard, he is the only guy on he island that has a bagged mada. different strokes for different folks. don't take it in the wrong way, but i assume you are an older man, and i'm pretty sure you wouldn't be dancing your armada on airbags. it's a nice mada. i am still a big fan of black. it just looks mean, but yet classy.

Not older, I'm a Generation Xer. Baby boomers are "older" and middle aged. But I also like black, hence my name. And if I was college age, I'd still think they were dumb the way I thought triple bladed color cordinated wipers, writing "pimpin' ain't easin" on your car in 6" letters, and stubby rubber antennas when I was in school. Sorry, not into the Dopi scene. Mahalo. ;)

Well well, to start off with, I'm 33 years old.... and that Armada looks great-I wasn't sure about how it would look lowered and that, but that's b*#chin...sorry triple black..youz DEAD wrong. Looks awesome:) As us OLD guys say...stick that in ur pipe and smoke it.

That is one fine Armada. I really can't figure out why we've got such critics of anything lowered with big wheels. Even if that Armada was at stock height, it still one of the nicest I've ever seen.

I with you andy, that is one bad a$$ looking Armada. While I would never do that to my truck, I have a few friends you have "bagged" vehicles and they are awesome. You got to appreciate the work and talent that goes into these vehicles.

Different strokes for different folks. I am 38 years old and like them.

keala, you said he has the only bagged Armada on the island. Much respect to him.

keala
01-18-2007, 03:35 PM
well, i love his mada, but in all honesty, i wouldn't do it. i look at the mada as a family car. when i use it to go to work alone, i feel like i'm using up to much space on the road.that being said, i guess i'm leaving it stock for a long time. but, then again, if i had another big family vehicle this baby would be in the sky LIFTED on airbags!!!!

02-19-2007, 11:26 AM
Wow....the rims, those headlights and alllll that black looks wicked!! Don't like the grille though. Baggin' MY Armada is not something I would even think about doing...just not my taste for my own personal vehicles. But I can honestly say I think it looks pretty cool slammed like that. If nothing else, it looks different seeing a huge vehicle slammed like that. Its his vehicle and he seems to have done a great job in getting it to look the way HE wants it to look. Big props to him for that.

I'd love to see that Armada hop off the ground.

It's been 3 years since I left vegas and that scene. Being a member of the Freaks of Nature truck club I have seen a few hundred bagged rides and owned a couple myself. You have to have a special gene in you DNA to truly appreciate taking a perfectly functioning vehicle and cutting the frame, hacking up the interior and completely throwing the warrenty out the window as you drive off the lot. However, the work and skill that is put into doing all the custom modifications and making it look good can be absolutely amazing. Any way you look at it, you can take it or leave it but don't knock it till you've tried it. If you can ignore the purpose and see the art you just might surprise yourself at what you see.

keala
02-19-2007, 10:32 PM
well, i look at it as CUSTOM. bagging the mada will definitely separate your ride away from the rest. if you got the money, i say do it!! the ride can be way better by installing airbags. remember, that the our rear suspension is also independent, so you really don't have to hack the mada up. tahoe, yukons, etc. have straight axles, so you are forced to hack. if you look at the our suspension, it really isn't all that hard to do. i don't think it would cost that much either. well , i'll catch you guyz later.

I don't know much about lowering, and not trying to be facetious here, but I like to know how the ride will be better with the air bags and lowered? it sure sets you apart from other Armada's, it is very expensive to do something like that, so is raising too. I have 4x2 and definitely I can't justify raising it, since I can't go off roading, and the ride is gonna be ridiculous on surface streets. I would appreciate your insight on how the ride would be better with airbags?

Let me say this, I need to know how it improves the ride, am not being facetious,( not criticizing).

For the armada the ride would actually be worse unless you went with a full articulated independantly controlled set up. If you do not isolate each corner in a vehicle the size of ours the body roll as air transfers from side to side or front to back would be extreme. I had extreme roll in just my hardbody before adding independant bag control. The ride is improved by taking out the rigidity of the coil springs and adding the cushy feeling of the air bags.

lol It doesn't improve the ride it makes it worst. But most owner's of them probaly know they are sacraficing ride for looks.

In most (99%) of cases I would agree. Without having almost factory ingineering involved an aftermarket air ride system will sacrifice ride to get adjustability. More form than function compared to stock suspensions.

Thanks guys, justed wanted to know if it will compromise the ride if someone wants to drop thousands of $$$$, and not knowing if it will help the ride or not. thanks again.

norcal05SE
02-21-2007, 12:22 AM
its all about how much air you keep in the bags. if you ride around all dropped down, then you have no spring effect. if you drive around cranked all the way up, it rides stiffer than you can imagine. a customer of ours at the shop i work at drive a lifted dodge ram. its got a keldermann air ride fully adjustable lift. i think its adjustable from 8" to 16" or something like that. anyways, my point is, that thing rides like a limo when he sets the air right. if he drives around lifted to the max, it rides like a brick. it is possoble to make an air ride system like that ride very nice.

andy
02-21-2007, 12:37 AM
So are the coil springs removed and bags put in? I assume shocks are still in place. If so, it would seem you can still get a pretty nice ride if they are half way inflated.

keala
02-21-2007, 01:08 AM
weel, the ride would improve just like norcal05se stated. you would most definetly have to run a air ride controller. of course it would ride harsh if you filled your bags all the way to max or even have slammed. i wouldn't ride it either way. i would set my controller to stock height when driving. cadillacs have bags in them and they ride nice. it is all dependent on how much air is in the bag. air irde has controllers that you can preset with fifferent heights. you can even have it automatically slam when you turn the ignition off. i had a air bag setup in my 454ss and the ride was pretty nice. i really couldn't do any good launches but i don't race anyway. even good bag manufacturers will affect the ride. i had a nitrogen setup in the chevy 454ss and it was quick and i didn't have to worry about moisture.

What's up with the bags? Are they custom or has someone finally introduced a kit to the maket? Two inches from the springs won't look good with all I want to do?

IKAPONO

No its been bagged. So far I've never heard of a kit to drop our armada yet. But when its at stock height the ride is good.

92TripleBlack
08-03-2007, 11:29 AM
Custom. The bags partially inflated will give a soft ride, but also a loose one. It would feel more like a boat in the corners. Sure straight and level it's nice, but even on ramps, etc. will feel loose. Like a sloppy limo, but not like I want, which is like an Infiniti, Lexus, Mercedes, etc. Bottomline, bags are for show, not for improving performance. They do make good compensators for large loads, like in our tow package, but not good replacements.

Then in that case go get one Infiniti, Lexus, or Mercedes. Thats your taste thats what you like. But don't it feels good to say I did that. Instead of buying somthing thats made already. Yeah its alot of money but its just the same as buying a Lexus, or Infiniti.

Many of us have had "beef" with 92TB, me included. Remember, we are all here to learn and share our opinion. 92TB is extremely opinionated, but harmless. One thing to keep in mind fellas, is that there are less than a handful here that "hate" lowered trucks, a few more of us who don't really care for it but still respect the hard work, money, and dedication it takes to do something like that, and even more members who absolutely love it.

Personally, although I don't understand why someone would want to get a truck and lower it, I'm also for anything that gets our trucks the recognition that they deserve and it's got to be really nice to constantly hear, "Whoa!!! I didn't know you could do that with an Armada!!"

The fact is, these trucks you guys are talking about are Show Trucks that are making it into the magazines and maybe coverpages too for all I know and it really does not matter whether I or anyone else understands or agrees with it because you are obviously doing something right that a large majority of people around the World agree with. So, just keep up the good work and stop worrying so much about what us old farts think, it's just a different way of thinking and learning about how you guys do it makes much more interesting reading than why you do it.

Could not agree more. To each their own, but to me it is like lifting and putting tall mud terrain tires on a Corvette; looks out of place and draws attention but functionally a very poor choice of platform to start with.

Hey, also how wide are your rims? I think my 26's are going to be 26x10. The shop said they cant do it if its too wide because it will hit the fender. Did you have to do any mods to your fender at all? Any help will be greatly appreciated! thanks bro!

thanks stikystikyricky yes i do have 24's and as for the ride its a little bit bumpier then stock as long as you ride it at stock height its not that bad at all. as for the price i paid 6,500 for the equipment and installation so the quote that you got are pretty much accurate. main reason that its so expensive is because our armada's don't have a kit readily made for it my system is pretty much totally custom. Hope this helps man.

my rims are 24x10 however i had to get the 30cc offset or something like that in order for the rims to clear the fenders. I also had to get thin and narrow tires for the same reason 285/35R24.

I found a guy online who says he can make a kit for the armada. He said its bolt on then plug and play. He wants $1795 and 1950 shipped:

Doesnt seem like a bad deal at all..
