has anyone ever polished ther factory rims. the ones that are almost a grey color ...

Has anyone done it? I doubt it. But it's doable! I wouldn't strip the paint off with the tires on the rim though. I'd remove the tires, then strip, then sand, then polish, then seal.
I polished the valve cover on my Civic back in 1996, before I had a kid (lol). It was so highly poilished, people used to ask me where I got it chromed. The thing is, it requires a touch-up polish every once and a while.
Most people opt for aftermarket chrome rims for a couple of reasons. They can go bigger (and bigger is better these days), and chrome looks great with just a simple soapy water bath.

Mine came with charcoal grey wheels, and exchanged them for the a chrome ones, I don't think it's worth the effort, ebay is flooded with Armada wheels.
