I've had the Armada 2 days and surprise surprise NH gets snow!

I was driving extra careful, new truck with an almost 50k price tag.

My first left turn and I get sideways. AHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I'm used to getting sideways, in my rx8 but this is a 4x4 wth?!?

I'm thinking of getting the Bridgestone Revo's as soon as I can sell my other car but why did Nissan put junk tires on this car?

Has anyone asked Nissan about the issue?

I owned a 2001 Pathfinder and never got sideways even on a severe slope offroad on the stock tires.

Why didn't they put toyo's or something similar on the vehicle?

:) NH I guess I'll stick to the rx8 with snow tires for the weekend. Sad when a RWD sports car behaves better then a 4x4.

Welcome to the Club!!!

I've been told (have not verified and don't care to) that Conti's were the only tire available in that size when the Armada first came out.

After reading this post, I'm going to have to check out Duelers when it gets that time:

Sideways feels wrong in the beast! Conti's are junk. You can get them for under $90 per tire!

Welcome to CA, glad you are ok. No, no one asked Nissan why? because you would not go pass that question. Do you think you might have hit black ice? if so I don't think it matter if you have 2x4 or a 4x4, did the ABS reacted?

Welcome to Club Armada smileynh! Get rid of the conties asap! I went with Toyo open Country M/Ts and they kick butt in the snow. Most all weather tires are good too.

Go with the Duelers, they make a world of difference.

Love the Truck. Hate the tires. After researching it a bit I'm glad I don't need snow tires. I'll just ditch the conti's and put them up for sale.

Tirerack to the rescue! and yes , 6000lbs going sideways was not fun.

:crikey:

Tires are everything IMO, just like in baseball it's all pitching ... and hitting .. and fielding ....

One little detail really ruins the mix. I just wish I didn't have to shell out $700 on a new truck :P Cheaper then $1300 for snows on the 8.

did you have your awd switch on?? i cant make my rig go sideways with the awd on. 2wd its easy, but not in awd. if its just for no reason sliding, you've got more issues than the tires!!

Wlcome to CA! I gotta agree with norcal05se I have the contis on and I'm in MN (over a foot of snow since thursday) and although they're not the best tires, you should'nt be going sideways with awd on, there must have been ice or something.

The road was covered in what is affectionately called CRUD, 4-6 inches of loose slush on an icy surface. Pretty much the worst possible conditions. I had the car in 4wd mode not auto. I've driven my pathfinder through all kinds of conditions on and off road up steepe slopes. I just had absolutly no traction. Tireracks ratings on the conti's for snow are a joke.

I'd set the truck up with snowtires but the conti's are junk in rain as well.

Anyone want to buy some conti's with ~500 miles on them? Going cheap send me a PM say $250 plus shipping from NH.

It's just not worth damaging your truck because of poor tires. If you live in the sunbelt with little rain the Conti's are just swell. Heck I'd love to pimp my truck out with 22's with lots of bling but I'd prefer to be capable of going through 20" of mud, up hill both ways.

I know what you mean about that road crud that stuff is the worst, what kind of of tires are you considering?

I purchased a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 's they were the highest rated for snow in the stock tire size. I also like the look and the white lettering.

I had these on my Explorer and they kicked butt. The AWD system on my Explorer was junk though, much better in the Armada. One day I'll have to upgrade but it looks like it will never snow in NY ever again :(

The one thing I'll say is the dry grip on these tires are awesome.

I had Duelers on my 88 silverado, when I lived in Utah never had a problem in the snow with them. I had many trips up big cottonwood canyon in some pretty deep snow with those bad boys.

I don't think you can go wrong with getting Duelers.

Just thought I'd jump in here to recommend the Dueler Alenzas - put them on my truck in January, and they ROCK. I didn't lose any gas mileage (which I thought I might with a more 'off road' tire) and they were a bit cheaper than the Revo's.

We've had that slush crap snow here in PA, and yes, in the conti's it was worse than my Mr2 used to be. As soon as the Alenzas were on, haven't been in 4WD since. Even in 2WD they are fantastic.

Think I paid 153 a tire at Tirerack.com. I hate whitewalls, but they are symmetrical, so they installed them white walls in. :)
