: Lowering ARmada???
Hey guys,
Well, I just wanted to see if anybody on here has lowered their armada besides bagging or putting hydrolics on it?? I was reading a different post and someone said that another member had taken off his spring isolators??? Does anybody know anything about this??? I think that lowering just a couple of inches would make my ride look much more agressive... I know some of you do not like lowered rides, but it matters on what the owner wants and all... so if anybody has any info on lowering the armada, I would greatly appreciate it if you can share with me...
thank you much!!!
raphael
keala 03-14-2007, 04:17 PM i've been wanting to lower mine for a long time. i contacted intraxsuspension and they said i should be available by the end of march. actually the distributors should have it by the end of the month and we should be able to purchase them in the beginning of april. well, i could be wrong because i've tried buying them already and the different dealers keep giving me false info. jason burtman said that these springs aren't even available and the dealers advertise them for sale. when you do try to purchase them they say it's on back order. just gotta hang on and wait for them. i would rather hang on longer and let them work out the bugs.
koo, thank you... i was going to ask if someone could put info if they have already installed them on their truck... but i guess not, lol... if you do get them installed, please let me know how the ride is... i think that the ride will look clean lowered even if it had the stock wheels on it, which in that case, i do, lol...
on emore thing, would we have to change our shocks/struts??? do we even have shocks or struts??? when I lowered my solara, I had to replace the struts as the stock struts could not handle the lower springs...
keala 03-14-2007, 10:53 PM well, i don't know if the kit will have shorter struts/shocks or if they will have them available to purchase. it is a mild two inch drop so, all you would actually have to do is cut the foam stops on the shocks a little so the shock won't bottom out. i'm pretty sure there will be shocks made for the drop eventually. i went to a local spring maker/fabricator. i asked about lowering the mada and was told that if i didn't want to wait for the springs, i could use the front titan drop springs that are already available through other companies. for the rear, the only thing i could do is cut maybe a coil. i wasn't to fond of that so i opted out for that option. he also said that he could take measurements of the springs and maybe i could use a shorter spring for another vehicle with the same load rating or just a little bit lower. i never got back to him on that, so i think i'll just wait. i was already qouted for air-bags and they wanted $4500. so we are pretty much S.O.L. on the lowering department for now. DOESCHT TECH ENTERPRISES had two drop kits available but they discontinued them. they were 0/2 drop and an 1.5/3 drop. well hope this will help.LOL!!
man, i hope they will come out with one soon as i am dying to drop the ride, but not spend 4500 to airbag it, lol... well see where this will end up...
Jason B 03-20-2007, 10:06 AM i've been wanting to lower mine for a long time. i contacted intraxsuspension and they said i should be available by the end of march. actually the distributors should have it by the end of the month and we should be able to purchase them in the beginning of april. well, i could be wrong because i've tried buying them already and the different dealers keep giving me false info. jason burtman said that these springs aren't even available and the dealers advertise them for sale. when you do try to purchase them they say it's on back order. just gotta hang on and wait for them. i would rather hang on longer and let them work out the bugs.

Yes, with custom brackets to fit.

[QUOTE=lowincarmada take a look at mine app. 2 inch drop on 26 wheels[/QUOTE]
Looks great. So how do you keep the ride the same? So you're not messing with the springs? Is there more info, website?
Importz 04-19-2007, 10:43 PM what andy said?? lol i can see that u r a good salesperson lol
share with us how u did it...dying to lower our armada
lowincarmada 04-20-2007, 12:16 AM What we do is modify the front shocks so it seats 2 inches lower in the front then modify the rear springs and air ride control so it seats 2 inches lower but also keeping the air ride functional, last custom shorten the bump stop.
jdbinspired 04-20-2007, 12:21 AM ^... so this set-up your talking about is air suspension... tank, compressors, air lines, everything like that...????
... I wanna SLAM my Armada... maybe as low as that white escalade in the pic...
lowincarmada 04-20-2007, 12:24 AM No my wife drives this and she hates air ride, what I mean by the air suspension is that there is a lever in the rear that you can just adjust.
wassup lowin, i dont have a LE... So I don't know about setting the rear air suspension...
Kailo 04-20-2007, 02:22 AM How About the ''Full Info"...Whats needed,How much?(I see $600 but what am I getting)? And how to.....btw Those are some Hot Rides...

clostoyo 04-20-2007, 05:29 PM are those trucks , hot wheels? they look like hot wheels , lol, welcome to CA,do you have any problems with aligment? i have 26s and would not want to mess up ant of my tires, they are NOT cheap, especially my pirellis
92TripleBlack 04-20-2007, 06:12 PM Photoshop lookin' to me. Looks like seven sad vehicles. :crikey:
Seriously, though I don't like them at all, the latest was the lowering kits out right now screwed up the alignment, burned up tires, and the owners coudn't get them aligned properly, not to mention it kills resale and turns and SUV into a clunky car.
lowincarmada 04-20-2007, 09:18 PM Sorry old man, those are all real cars as far as alignments it can and has been done no tire wear. If you want to upgrade your wheels or even make your armada look better than factory then just give us a shout

clostoyo 04-20-2007, 10:21 PM ammmmm, if the old man coment was directed to me, i think your wrong, im only 27, and my QX56 looks fine the way it is, i was just wondering as far as aligment issues, no need for name calling this site is not like others, with the bashing and name calling , we try to help each other and every one will have an opinion, like it or not thats what a forum is for, and ill pass on the upgrade of the wheels, i wouldnt trade my Giovannas for anything else
lowincarmada 04-21-2007, 12:40 AM Sorry clostoyo wasnt talking to you, I was talking to tripleblack. I know we all have our opinions but I've seen him comment badly on all lowered armadas I dont think thats right. As far as aligment there is no problems just take it to an aligment shop that can do 26's, You got a pics of your QX on those Giovannas wanna check that out.
clostoyo 04-21-2007, 12:46 AM no harm done lowincarmada thanks for the advice, let me see if i can get a picture of my truck
clostoyo 04-21-2007, 12:52 AM http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v167/scubaq/OldTownIII071.jpg
This was at the club titan meet , i was the only qx56 there but had alot of fun with the ct boyz
lowincarmada 04-21-2007, 01:04 AM Nice I love 26's it's the perfect size on madas and qx. Hey are you selling them? I think i saw them for sell. If so why are you selling them?
Importz 04-21-2007, 01:06 AM dude u gon give us any info or wat?? i really want to slam my truck too!!
http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f238/labelzbaby/Picture586.jpg
clostoyo 04-21-2007, 01:14 AM i needed some money in an emergency and i wqas going to put my stocks for the time being, i was panning on getting the giovanna settes wit hthe black cap after i sold these, but now im good, so they are here to stay, but some day ill get the settes, i like them alot and o think they would look sick on my truck, as far as size i coulnt agree with you any more, 26's are the way to go on these trucks, maybe 24's, but this truck is too big for small wheels, now of i had a pathfinder then i would go 22's,
dahubby 04-21-2007, 06:55 AM Welcome to the club, i love the mada. I wouldnt do 26's because my wife drives it more than me, but they do look hott on yours. I wouldnt mind lowerin mine a few inches though and not sacrfice the ride. Ill wait on the info.
92TripleBlack 04-23-2007, 12:20 AM Sorry clostoyo wasnt talking to you, I was talking to tripleblack. I know we all have our opinions but I've seen him comment badly on all lowered armadas I dont think thats right. Yes, ALL lowered SUVs and Trucks.
As for alignment, people have taken the only lowering kit to an alignment shop and it won't align. Unless a second kit is out, the first one was poorly designed and can't be aligned.
And, no, not liking lowered junk doesn't make someone old.
Clostoyo, thanks for the props. Your 26" look good and you're a good guy. Alignment for larger wheels isn't a problem, but so far, people have had alignment problems when lowering Armadas.
Time to take my Geritol.
Cillyone 04-23-2007, 12:45 AM TB I am "old" like you and cannot see the value of a lowered truck and like you I do my best to ignore the "young" folks in their lowly endeavors. But sometimes I just can't help myself, especially when someone is chastised for their opinion. TB just keep driving that "old" Corrvette and I will keep clearing 150 mph every week on my "old" motorcycle and we will let the "young" guys "drive" their lowered 3ton SUVs like the pros they are. What were we talking about? I am so senile I forget. Oh yeah, had any good bingo games lately?
FWIW-the pictures of those seven lowered trucks, there is NO WAY the camber on those front wheels can produce anything near even tire wear! Not today, not yesterday and not tomorrow, only in your dreams.
92TripleBlack 04-23-2007, 01:07 AM I hear you. Don't criticize something or automatically you get personally attacked and accused of being old because your pants don't fall down if I don't wear a belt.
Keep riding your old Bike. Looks slow from your picture. I'll keep driving my old vette, which I know is so slow because with an unmodified motor, I haven't met a BMW, Merc, Honda, Lexus, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Infiniti, or Toyota on the road that was faster yet. ;)
clostoyo 04-23-2007, 05:52 PM LOl you old guy crack me up , lol, it reminds me of the movie "grumpy old men" lol and triple black dont forget to change your depends today! lol , i respect you guys opinion, and i personally would not lower my truck unless it was with air bags, that way i can ride at normal height and if i go to a show or something ill drop it, but to have my heavy truck to the groung at all times , i dont think i could do it , i lowered my wifes car 3 years ago with tein springs and all , and now 3 years later i had to change the struts and i put the fatory srpings back on, and now she rides like a dream! never agoing will i drop her car, and my infinity either, i actually want to get the leveling kit forthe front end to see if i can get a ticker tire on my wheels. i respect triple black because he doesnt like "big wheels" but he gave me props on my truck.
Cillyone you seem like a cool guy , let me know when the bingo night is at its best so we can play and flirt with the old ladies lol , take care guys , life too short

08smokeLE 05-03-2007, 03:55 AM I thought that all Armada's have an auto leveling rear suspension which will not allow lowering springs...The springs have been available for the Titan for a long time now but not for the Armada...I owned a 2004 back in 2004 and I was told that lowering springs might never be avalaible on the Armada...I hope that changed.
Welcome to the Club 08smokeLE!!!!
The auto leveling suspension is standard on LE but option that comes with Tow Package on SE.
Frisco, huh?? I got a brother down there, nice area!!! :hi:
norcal05SE 05-03-2007, 08:21 PM wow. some serious mis-information here. you can align a lowered armada, no problem. no difference in aligning a lowered one then a lifted one. either way it stretches or compresses the spring, effecting camber and toe. easily changed. i aligned a lowered mada maybe 6 months ago. it wasnt slammed, but down maybe 1.5". aligned easily. i think most of the vehciles in lowincar's sig pic are on bags, which is why their camber is off so bad. i'm not saying there aren't wrong ways to do it, i'm just saying there are right ways, and to shoot it down as all wrong and bad for everyone is just stupid.
08smokeLE 05-04-2007, 11:17 AM Hey pops!
Frisco is indeed very nice and fast growing...we just landed here from SoCali last year...so far so good...getting adjusted to the stormy weather and tornadoe touch downs...but I will take those over earthquakes/fires/mud slides at any time :D
I am interested in lowering my Armada - no more than 1.5", but I will do my research on it...mine, delivered in hopefully 2 more weeks is a 2008 LE with the tow package-auto leveling system....I have a camper I will be towing and I do not want to screw up anything...
I am just exited to get a new Armada after my fiasco with the 2004 LE - bought back by Nissan under the California Lemon law...the rattles and the brakes issues completely turned me away from Nissans....
Unfortunately, I test drove the new Tahoe/Suburban/GMC and the Ford Expedition and I was very disapointed...although better trucks than their previous itterations, they still trail the Armada/QX56...so I am back...I hear that most of the quality issues have been addressed by Nissan and the new touches on the 2008 models are rather sweet...
Thanks.
......getting adjusted to the stormy weather and tornadoe touch downs...but I will take those over earthquakes/fires/mud slides at any time :D .......
If you haven't looked into them yet, you might want to consider a "fraidy hole" (Tornado Shelter) in the garage. They make the tops flush to the floor now, ours is carpeted and I only paid $3k.

That's what I thought, but someone who had it done said the kit screwed this up and the adjustments wouldn't adjust far enought to get it back into spec. or that the kit messed with the ability to adjust. No first hand info from experience for me though as I hate lowered anyway.
stikystikyricky 08-13-2007, 04:32 AM look what i found on ebay...
anyone used these yet?

there is no kit out yet. i've been waiting for the intrax kit for a while and still no luck. the 04-05 model mada does not have the newly designed camber adjustment bolts. you can purchase these and they should correct the camber as close to stock as possible. if there is or was a kit out please let me know what brand they were.amd if there is a member with a specific kit, can they please let us know brand is it. i beleive armada24's just took out the spacers(spring isolators) and that gave him his drop. the problem with his camber was due to the old style camber adjustment bolts. so to say that a kit that was made screwed up the ability to correct camber is totally false. i just don't know why you wouldn't be able to at least correct some of the camber.
where is armada24 pics? so if you take the isolators out will it mess your whole ride?
stikystikyricky 08-25-2007, 07:33 AM LOLL I guess those springs on ebay were lost or broken so the auction ended early. haha your right.. I dont think there are springs out yet :(
