: What is your experience?
BlakSpyda 03-15-2007, 10:15 AM I was wondering if I am the only one who gets this type of treatment. This really is a reality check to see if I am doing something wrong or are we all experiencing this type of reaction from other drivers.
OK, here's the scenario!
This morning on my way to work on the Dulles toll road here in Northern Virginia, I was in the passing lane doing... (lets just say I was well over the speed limit) as I always do. Looking in my rear view mirror, I see a guy coming up faster than I was going. So, I pulled into the lane to my right to let him by. As I approached other vehicles in the lane I was in, I got back into the passing lane behind the guy who I let pass. DO YOU KNOW, he decided to slow down, not drasticly, but enough for me to notice, since there was no one in front of him and then he decided to use his windshield washer... for about a minute. I didn't complain, but I did appreciate the free use of his washer fluid.
Now, was I wrong for passing him on the right and saying thank you by returning the favor and sharing some washer fluid with him?! :o
I just think some drivers think they have the right to control traffic and wish they had a badge, but since they don't, I will call them self deputized citizens. :(
bmfsapper 03-15-2007, 10:49 AM I Really dont think it's you. i have had the same thing happen to me. with both of my cars. I will let someone pass me and get in behind them and they slow down. Don't know what it is but it happens.
inqui-Z-tor 03-15-2007, 11:16 AM Was he using his cell phone?
BlakSpyda 03-15-2007, 11:29 AM Was he using his cell phone?Nope, I usually look for them and just go around them. This guy was intent on doing what he did. I could see him looking in his rear view mirror as he was slowing down!
Rumplecat 03-15-2007, 11:41 AM This has happened to me numerous times and I ride them because they just need to get over and stop making me sooo mad! But I get windshield fluid spray on the Mada all of the time. But I do ussually end up passing them in the slow lane and then they speed up to pace me but in the Mada they are no contest! ;-) Then I tell them that I am there number one fan and I keep on driving! I don't why they do it but it is just stupid! Ur not alone Blakspyda!

Maybe he slowed down to check out your Armada??
Washer spray .. just a coincidence?
I asked about cell phone because thats what I usually encounter ..
I'll be cruising along ... #2 lane .. no one infront of me (maybe exceeding posted speedlimit by 5mph) .. and I'll see potential congestion in #3 (merging traffic). A drive in #3 lane, also see the possible problem .. signals and merges over into #2 (my lane). Remember no one is in front of me .. clear sailing .. What happens? That driver SLOWS down to pace lane #3 speed (at posted or below speed limit).
So I get into #4 .. pass 'em up .. glance over .. CELL PHONE! Oblivious to traffic now backing up in #3 lane ...
All they had to do .. was to maintain (5pm excess) for 30 seconds to clear the congestion .. and merge back into #3 or #4 lane .. but NOOOO ..
BigGuyNH 03-15-2007, 12:05 PM Spyda, There are a lot of people out there who have a problem, well let's call it, Childish behavior. They assume, that they are always correct. OR one other thing is that when you get in behind them, they break their concentration, and slow down as a reaction, THEN they get really upset, because you "REALLY WANT TO TRY AND PASS ME!!!!!" Well, you get the picture. It is not you. I call it little penis syndrome

He might have slowed to check out the Armada and he wound up getting a nice view of the front! The windshield washer thing was no coincidence either, just some sick way of him to cause a little grief without actually stomping on his brakes. Lots of witnesses on the road!
When I passed him on the right, he was a little amazed at how fast I did it, so I thanked him by returning the favor of washing his windshiled! ;)

Well he was in a Toyota Matrix! :D
Dustoff-00 03-15-2007, 12:22 PM Not that I have ever tried this, but a hand full of BB's does wonders at highway speeds when you run into guys like that. ya never know - you may have a new best friend.

I heard that!. I wouldn't do it though! When I was in Germany, some young guys, in the Ramstein area, were riding around in a BMer and doing it to folks on the Autobahn with gravel as a prank. They actually got me one day and threw them up in front of my Montero at 110 MPH:eek: no fun! Cracked windshield and chipped hood.
As much as I would like to, I don't want you guys to see me on the evening news:
"This just in: Police have caught the notorious Road Rage Revenge prankster. A Nissan Armada owner was caught by police after tipsters turned in the description of the vehicle in this viscous and most heinous attack on the highways here in the DC Metro area."
Nope, not gonna do it!

That's funny spydee!!
I noticed right away when I first started driving the Armada that people just couldn'y drive behind me, no matter how fast I was going. I came up with the theory that people see a large vehicle and decide that it must be diving slow. I mean, how could this fatty SUV concieve of being as fast and sporty as that sport-tuned, chick-magnet of a car, Toyota Matrix? How dare you impede on his sunday drive!!! That car has got to stretch it's legs! You know what they say about your penis... I mean Toyota Matrix...If you don't use it, you lose it:D

bg1906 03-15-2007, 01:43 PM You know how it is here in the area man. BAD Drivers! I agree, give him the business! Better than giving him the finger! LOL

Thanks Spyda! I thought for a moment that the truck was too dirty in that pic to post, but then I posted it anyway!!:D you guys know I like to play in my truck!
supamada 03-15-2007, 02:24 PM you did just enough to get your point across, Spyda. I used to drive a semi up there(along I-95) and nowadays you just can't be sure who you're dealing with.

No you can't be sure. Lots of maniacs. I try to ignore 'em, but often, they keep pushin' buttons. With everyone packing' today, you just never know.

eurohazard 03-15-2007, 02:31 PM Washer spray at 20+ over the freeway speed limit is not a coincidence. Tat guy did it on purpose. And he's a dick because of it.
The ONLY time I spray someone (I'm actually a fan of the washer fluid trick when used apropriately) is when they are tailgating me. And I'm talking a hood's length from my rear bumper for an extended period of time, and there's someone in front of me keeping me at this speed. If no one is in front of me, I get over every time.
That guy was in the wrong big time. And his whole goal might have been to spray a clean black car.......who knows.
It's common here too. There's just no escape from idiots and roadrage.
I've gone through a couple of water bottles and felt bad afterwards both times. These people are just not worth the time or frustration.
Kailo 03-15-2007, 05:48 PM There's a lot of D...k head drivers out there...I prob live where the most obnoxious drivers are "NY" no driving skills always have to be on the Defence Driving...One lady actually Brake in front of me...Got alond side her and ask her..."What she thinks is her Survival rate against this Truck" she actually apologized...
phish 03-16-2007, 02:49 AM well i have never have this problem. i never get passed up. i just speed like a crazy idiot. hence all my legal troubles and a few times in the clink because of them. but old habits die hard....lol
BlakSpyda 03-16-2007, 09:41 AM well i have never have this problem. i never get passed up. i just speed like a crazy idiot. hence all my legal troubles and a few times in the clink because of them. but old habits die hard....lol
What was the old song? "I Can't Drive 55", more like I can't drive 65 or 75 today!
norcal05SE 03-16-2007, 02:10 PM this is why i ride a bike to and from work. the idiots cant catch me, and really cant slow me down. i can get to work about 10 minutes fsater on the bike than in my truck. and its only 20 minutes in the truck!!
BlakSpyda 03-16-2007, 02:22 PM I wish I could ride a bike to work. I definitely would. I did it for many years when I was in the military. Either living right on base or reall close to it. Now I work am 42 miles from home.:(
I used to think people cleaned their windshield in front of me on purpose, but now I think there's just a lot of clueless drivers out there.
Before I had kids, I'd pretty much pass the driver, slam on my brakes, get out of the car and confront the other driver. Being over 215 lbs and over 6 ft, I was only challenged one time. He happened to be about 5'6" and 200 lb fat pounds. He was also wearing a Russian Systema tshirt. when I saw his tshirt, I said sorry, and left real fast.
Now that I have kids, unless it threatens my family, I just let it go.
One more observation. when i drive smaller cars, I notice that people cut me off much more frequently. Anyone else get that?
rlmu59 03-16-2007, 09:05 PM Might want to get a nice big grill guard and give him a friendly bump as he's slowing down. Just a thought.

HAHAHA!! I tell my girlfriend to do that all the time! "Use the push-bar!!!":D
TW_Mada 03-17-2007, 02:34 AM Well at least is was an extra lane. The ones I hae are when you do decide to chill in the slow lane and relax, you got someone in front of your going about the speed limit. So you do your thing to go into the fast lane to pass them and...................they choose to now wake up and drive, so to pass you have to now drive like a bat out of h@ll to get back in front of them. Talk about blockers. But yeah in your situation I've had that before to, its only worse when you just decide to put your hard work in cleaning your ride and here comes this misty water to streak you up :)
BlakSpyda 03-18-2007, 10:06 AM ~~~ its only worse when you just decide to put your hard work in cleaning your ride and here comes this misty water to streak you up :)
Cleaning the truck again is usually not an issue. It gets a lot of road studd between home and work, so that isn't the problem. Just the A--hole in the other vehicle.

I used to say I wanted to put railroad ties on the front and rear so I could do that. :D:D Easy to replace 'em! ;)
92TripleBlack 03-19-2007, 11:13 PM Just a basic putz. Many people are just too dumb to realize that they are in the wrong.
Another great example is if I am the 3rd car back at a stop light. The guy in front isn't turning right on red though he can legally, his blinker is on, and no one is coming. Often, in a case like this, if I toot my horn, the guy in front of me invariably thinks I"m honking at him, not the dope in front holding us both up. Happens all the time. People are too dumb to realize that if you honk your horn, it is at the driver in the front of the line, not the one immediately in front of the car honking.

Sounds like me, but I'm 6'1" and 240, and not in bad shape too boot. Once I did a burnout in reverse toward a jack but in the vette. Don't mess.
