I smelt coolant and popped the hood. She's leaking from the neck area. Resevoir hose to the neck. Bad oem clamp. Anybody else have this problem or with the clamps from different hoses? eg; tb coolant hose? Im putting on a real ideal clamp and blead the system. :crikey: Sorry for it being kinda blurry.

Not me! That's way too soon. Might as well go ahead and get the good clamps on there now though, they're cheap enough. I've usually gotten this at +60k on other trucks.

Just curious, you got a Supra too?

It actually started a few months ago, the clamp was backed off so I scooted it forward a little. Damn, so this is way some dealerships wont sell you the oem clamp, due to liabilty.

I never cared for those POS Spring Clamps anyway, they never hold up to Radiator Heat. Just can't believe it went out so soon, sounds like it must've been taken off / back on while the truck was still new on the lot.

I hate them :damn: spring clamps! I got 36K and not leaks yet (knock on wood.)

Naaa, the car was bought new with only 30 miles on it. I bought it in January of 2006. Well, i bought some 5/16 hose and caps whilst I was down at the store, to do the bypass on the TB throttle. I tried to bleed the system, I should of known better about these newer cars and their self bleeding reservoirs.

Man, that wasnt it. I noticed it was comming from the cap. I checked the cap on the top of the radiator with a pressure tester hoping it would deflate quickly and it did. Bought a new one and tested it on the pressure tester only to find that it deflated quickly again. I forgot the cap has no spring on it and the preferated hole on the adaptor on the side is ment for a spring loaded type. But luckly it turned out to be the cap. DEALERSHIP ONLY 25 big ones.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't they be able to replace that cap under warranty if you take the bad cap in to them. They might have to do a Service Write-up but it might be worth it.

how long is the usual warantee? I bought the suv in january of 2006, i drive it only on the weekends. I have the extended warantee, but I dont think it covers leaky radiator caps just major things like tranny, hg failure, block, suspension. that sort of thing.

No, it should cover that too! Minor and major items. You should get the standard 3 years or 36K regardless if you bought it new and it should still be covered if you are not at 36K if it was pre-owned. How many miles on it, 5500? C'mon, make 'em fix it!

The cap would haver been covered under warranty.
By the way, the radiator cap is NOT a pressure control cap. There is no pressure/vacuum relief valve in it. It only seals. The pressure cap is on the overflow tank. On our cooling system the overflow tank is under pressure; many other systems have the pressure controlling cap on the radiator, with the overflow tank not under pressure.
There is a TSB out on problems with the radiator cap.

Yeah, the service writer at mossy didnt say much, i told him I had a 2006 and the cap just went bad. He told me they can go bad, and is suggestive once a year to replace. Its been 1.3 years already. This was yesterday when I walked outside with the new cap, but he said he hasnt seen one go bad on a armada that quickly. Bro do you have the link to the tsb on the cap?? Yeah, I found out the hard way when I was looking on the side of the adaptor AFTER I bought the new cap thinking my old one was bad, I just got lucky and it turned out to be the cap anyways.

The TSB is specific to radiator caps and says "for all 1999 and later"
