Ordered 2 weeks ago from CF, came today on back order. Doubt if I can have it installed in time for the fam going to FL on Tuesday.
I saw a review on the CF site and a reviewer said this
"Second, you cannot enter or select a destination without the parking brake being on. Great safety feature but precludes passenger modification of the route."
Is there a way to bypass this?
How do you bypass the DVD [non]function while driving?

all you have to do is ground out the parking brake wire.
the install was really easy, and i know your really going to
love the end result. Good Luck

Actually on the D3 you have to remove the mute wire to the empty slot.
Click here http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4670 and follow the instructions. If you do this step before taking it to an installer and tell him not to worry about the Mute wire and the parking brake they will not be liable. Most installers won't do this because of liability. But if you attach both wires to the ground before hand then you will be fine. Good luck!

a meter will work with the battery disconnected, if you are just
checking continuity of the wire. just make sure your on the ohms setting
and not voltage.

Got the D3 installed last week and took Bodacious on vacation. I paid $175 for the install including the avic, ipod connector and rear view camera. He didn't connect the d3 to the back-up light until today, so initially, the first thing that came up was the rear cam and of course, it didn't come on when put in reverse. It's hooked up right now, so all's good.
The d3 is banging. Took me to my brother's house in Fl, to the hotel, Target, found an ATM, different restuarants, etc. As Blizzard said, it is off some, more like 20-30 ft; i'm trying to find a way to fine tune it. However, I am impressed. I have stock speakers, and when i put in a dvd, it sounded like a theater. The surround was tight.
I would post pix, but my pix keep getting blocked. WTF???
Before the next road trip, I'll get the PAC-SWI, rear flip-down monitor and maybe the bluetooth adaptor.
