Anybody own a BMW 6? I'm looking at a 2007 650i and was wondering if anybody owns one here? Had any trouble? I've heard they have electrical issues, is this true? Any insite would be appreciated.

Well, honestly, I'd go with the 7 series before the 6. I saw a black M6 today with black rims and tinted windows...pretty nice. My dad used to own a 328i and he said that the upkeep cost was dreadful. When the oil was low, an annoying red light came on that ONLY the dealer could turn off. He bought a Maxima after that and said that in terms of matinence, Japanese cars are much better than German cars. Oh, and DocHarley, I'm curious, what do you do for a living? I don't know anyone else who spends that much on cars. And I'm a doctor!

The 5 series was having problems with power ripping up the drivetrain so they put electronic limiters on them. Not sure if they use the same parts on the 6, but on the stick M5, you can't turn the traction control off. No burnouts.

if you're lookin at that car, maintenence costs probably wont concern you. but, just keep them in mind, because bmw maint is a nightmare. like mc said, the oil should only be changed by a bmw dealer (but i think now its every 15k miles, so its not so bad). good friend has a mini cooper, built by bmw, and an oil/filter change runs her $85. and thats a four-banger! just something to think about. i personally wouldnt own a bmw unless it was covered by a factory warranty. buy new, sell before the warranty runs out!!!

I thought all new BMW's had maint included for 4yrs/50,000 miles? I think the 650 is a beautiful car I say go for it! Although for the same money (or less) you could get a used 05 or 06 E55...

For 2009 or 2010 BMW will make a four-door 6-Series to compete with the CLS. You might want to wait off on that...

I love the 6 series, especially theconv. I would say go with the 7 series, bu I agree with MCmada, those models have been around for almost 5 years now and what I hate the most is to buy something that gets a facelift shortly after.

BMW will do A LOT to thier sedan line in the next few years. Next year the 5-Series gets a facelift and in 2010 is redesigned. The new 7-Series will be out in '09. And the 6-Series will probably have something done to it to keep it in kilter with the 5 and 7.

They are pretty cars, I like the look of most of them, but father is a mechanic ad I'm pretty sure if I drove a BMW home, I'd have to find a new mechanic. Rates right up there with VW.

I have a 2005 330i sedan and love it. They do come with a 4yr/50k maintanance package which includes oil changes every 15k, all major service checkups (15k, 30k, etc.), free brake pads and rotors, and free wiper replacements. I got the extended warranty to 6yr/100k for a pretty good price from the dealer.

If you do get a bimmer, I would recommend changing your oil every 5-7k though...the oil will last, but the filter will start to break down. If you can afford a 6 or 7 series, $85 bucks for an oil change is probably not a big concern...

Good luck bro!

Let's see...BMW's are ok, but high maintanence. Mereceds are good, but even the new cars have major quality and engine issues (my fam. friends new Mereceds E-Class had to be towed because of some engine malfunction...) and our E-Class has this really annoying rattle in the backseat somewhere!! The 650i is one hell of a nice car, but just know what you're getting into. I say just get a 350Z (or two from all the $$$ you'll be saving) and soup it up to the max:D

Man that cs looks real nice almost like a elongated Aston Martin except for the front grille, I love how BMW's look but haven't had a chance to drive one yet but they all look real nice. I gotta do a test drive one of these days.

I would get that but, I'm saving my $ for the Lincoln MKR. I think Mercedes created a totally new class of car with the CLS. Now BMW, Audi, VW and Lincoln are trying to copy it.

If you test drive a BMW, you will be converted. They really are "the ultimate driving machine".

If you guys really want to experience BMW's. Attend the BMW Ultimate Drive event that raises money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation to fight Breast Cancer. It's an event that takes place every year at a local BMW Dealership. At this event you can test drive any BMW you like (unfortunately, M series cars not included). For every mile you drive, BMW donates $1.00 to the Foundation. It's a set route (usually 10 miles) and you go by yourself, so you can really push these cars and see what they are all about.

To keep costs down just get an extended maintenance plan, it's free to 50k.... And the extended pays for itself after the first rotor/pads replacement (BMW does not turn down rotors they replace them....) Hope that helps!
