Three small, round rock chips are starting to rust :(. Is there any corrosion warranty on the Armada? Maybe we'll just get the whole Armada re-painted incld. the roof rack, running boards, splash guards, and that plastic thing running across the bottom at the front-end. Will re-painting the Armada hurt re-sale value? Also what are your thought's on colour matching the above items I've listed...my parents said they like the contrasting look from the silver exterior and that they said the paint will chip easily. I personally love the colour matching to some extent. One more thing, has anyone applied the 3M clear bra on the Armada? Just want a rough estimate on how much you paid for it. The 3M clear bra btw. is a very good investment! have it on the G35 and you can barley tell it's there :)...plus it saves you $$$ in the long run from painting your car like we are probably going to do with the Armada:o

i did not buy my armada new, so i didnt get the warranty lecture. but on the new cars i have purchased, they've carried a 10-year rust/corrosion/paint warranty. however, i dont think that would cover damage from a rock chip. couldnt hurt to check though. as for painting, it wont hurt the resale if you paint it the same color. i would imagine trying to change colors would be very difficult and spendy. as long as a reputable paint shop does it, matching the factory paint wont be an issue. two-stage paints arent to hard to match. the three-stage paints, like on some infinitis, would be much harder to match. and the clear bra is a great idea. the line you see is kinda weird, but it will TOTALLY protect the front end from rock damage. my dad's got an 05 maxima in black, and he had that done. his route to work is rather rural, and he's always following some farmer's truck kickin stuff up. car is almost 3 years old, and still look brand new!

Hey Hullio,
I think we paid about $200.00 through the dealer, but got just the area one the hod where the bug guard would go. I blacked out the area where we got it done....
Well worth it. We had a 2003 Maxima that had the whole front nose done. Still looks good today for the current owner. That was pricey though. Just went with the area that would rust this time. So far so good.

If I remember right, the corrosion warranty is for rusting all the way through the metal. Surface rust is a way of life, and really unavoidable once the paint is chipped. The best thing to do after a chip is to touch it up immediately.
You can still sand the rust away, and touch it up. That's what I'd do.....repainting the whole panel is extreme considering chips will happen again.
And as far as painting the pieces. See my other posts on it for more detail. Just make sure the painter masks off the insides of the mud guards.....because those will chip quickly. Everything else not so easily. Maybe the front air dam if you ram into high curbs
