Anyone tried using acetone as a fuel additive to improve gas mileage and HP? Check out this website. I am thinking about trying this and wanted to get some opinions and info about it first. let me know.

Let us know what happens when you try it. Personally, I wouldn't. The advisory from the site says
ADVISORY: With any technology, you take a high risk to invest significant time or money unless (1) independent testing has thoroughly corroborated the technology, (2) the group involved has intellectual rights to the technology, and (3) the group has the ability to make a success of the endeavor.I would have to have seen others (independent of PES) say they have used it and were successful.

I won't do it. Somehow risking an engine that cost several thousand dollars to possibly save a buck or two on a tank of gas doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I tried this last summer on my GS400 at the time it had 80k miles on it with the original spark plugs and O2 Sensors.
My previous best city mileage was 22MPG but usually around 21 to 21.5MPG With Acetone I got 24.2 best combination was 4oz. of pure Acetone mixed with 20 Gal. of fuel. I tried this over 4 tanks last year and then backed off; I didn't want to risk damage to the fuel system. Once I backed off the Mileage stayed up with out Acetone for the next several tanks, I think the Acetone acts more like a fuel system cleaner if anything.
I tried Acetone again when I fill up last week and I went from 21.75MPG to 19.72MPG, I think the cold weather made my MPG drop since my commute is very consistant.

I used it on my 05 Dodge ram diesel and it worked on power and mpg. As stated above it is a super duty injection cleaner etc. Also if used make sure to add marvel mystery oil for further lubrication (60% acetone-40% MMO)

Several years ago I spoke with a shell engineer about acetone. I then used it in my previous vehicle a 94 land cruiser. BTW- acetone is the primary ingredient in all high dollar injector cleaners. That's why they mandate that you always have at least 3/4 tank of gas in the car when you take it in to get the injectors cleaned. If you have 1/4 tank, like I had in my G ride last month and they add the additive to the tank, it will wreck your oxygen sensors (fryem). This is also a scam that many car repair shops do to get the additional $300.00 peer side out of you. I made it 2 blocks before my check engine light came on, took it back, they put it on the machine, and bank one sensor one was cooked. Ya live and ya learn.
Anyway- in the LC. First I put in 1 pint of acetone with 25 gallons of gas. Loaded the car and headed out. LOTS more pep. 80 miles out (rolling 300ft hills)I smelled hot metal but the LC also quit the:rolleyes: upshift/downshift/upshift/downshift on the hills. Converter stayed locked no shifts, just more torque. Tank one, highway mileage went from 13 to 16.8. Looked at the engine on the gas stop and all the spots on the exhaust system were gone, spotless clean. Added 1 more bottle (walmart makeup section $1.03 a pint) around town mileage went from 8 to 12, 0-60 (maybe 80) dropped well over a second. Gas pedal position for 80 went from 8/10ths to 1/2... Car sounded like a car again instead of an anemic rice burner. Highway mileage (ac off) went up to 19 at 72mph (wife driving). (LC had 165000 on it at the time and I was looking for a reason to drop in a 427 smallblock) next 4 tanks at 16oz per 25 gallons everything stayed the same. Emailed the guy from shell and he recommended dropping back to 2.5oz for each 10 gals of gas. Next 100 tankfulls of gas at the 2.5oz level maintained the same mileage and lost the hot metal smell.
At 10 degrees outside instead of the usual 6 cranks to start, It started in about 2.5 to 3.5 cranks RrrrRrrrRrrr start. Going up Wolf Creek Pass in Co.(W-E) where previously I needed to unlock the converter to run steady without upshift/downshift and maintain either 75 or 45, I could leave it in OD, maintain 65 and no unnecessary shifts.
Going E-W on 8 from Imperial towards San Diego, where previously I had to leave it in 3rd at 3/4 throttle to maintain 55, I could now leave it in 4th, converter unlocked and maintain 55 with no undue shifting.
At about 155 tanks with absolutely no problems at all, got bullseyed by a doper on a rice rocket doing 90. That set the car on fire and that was a reason to buy an Armada. I have not used acetone in the armada yet because I have not needed to clean it out yet.
other acetone victims of mine:
Lawn mower- sat for two years- flushed the gas out, carb cleaned it and added 2.5 to 10 percentage of acetone. (wouldn't start on gas) started on acetone/gas coughed chunks of carbon, gained about 300rpm (sound) stopped boggin down in heavy grass. Same performance as running avgas in the lawnmower. (Ran avgas for 11 years wth no tune up in the lawn mower...)
John Deer Gator range vehicle- normally only run 100 yards at a time from range to range to ammo bunker, never warmed up, always ran like crap. Added acetone, all cold start problems went away, rpms and torque went up, got another 5mph out of it. Now we just run it on avgas.
Reported things to look out for with acetone is the same as with alcohol. Ate old rubber, but not new plastic rubber hoses. Ate old injector o-rings but not current crop of syntho-plastic o-rings. Sine acetone and alcohol both suck water out of anything, they would both rust old metal gas tanks and fittings, won't tounch any of the new components of anything that will run on flexfuel. My LC was not flex fuel but had no problems at all over the use of acetone. It even ran on alcohol fuel but got real bad mileage on it.
If you use anti icing and algae inhibitor (prist)in your jet fuel, it is basically acetone with a herbicide mixed in.
Just my 2 cents worth...

The Lucas fuel treatment does this or better, on my late 05 Mada I use to get around 9 to 10 MPG and after I after to use the Lucas fuel treatment on each fill up, it went up to around 13 to 14 MPG, and if u don't abuse the pedal like I do, it will do better.
