: Stillen Super Chip or Big Foot?

Hey there Ladies and Gentlemen:

I saw somewhere that someone put a “75 mm” throttle body on their Titan/Armada. Do any of you know if this is a worthy add on? If so, does anyone know where to get one? I have spent countless hours searching the net without success.
Also does anyone know if Stillen has a “tuner chip” for us or is that rumor? I read something about “Stillen Days” but can’t find any real data on an actual “tuner chip currently available or what improvements it may bring; it’s like the Yetty or Big Foot rumor.
I see that some of you hard core types have installed Nitrous. Can anyone point the way to a worthy Nitrous set up for 07 Armada 4x4? Are they safe under “use only as need” circumstances? And where have you guys been mounting the bottle?
I am in the process of putting together my order of the following:
• Injen Cold Air Intake
• JBA Evol Performance Exhaust
• JBA Headers Armada (JBA part code for Silver Ceramic 1400SJS)
• Airaid Power Aid Throttle Body Spacer

(I think Jason with Burtmans Industries had indicated that he carries all but the JBA headers for the Armada…I think)

I can’t find the following or do not even know if they will help or really want or need them:
• A better than stock Mass air flow sensor
• larger Throttle Body
• Stillen Tuner Chip
• Nitrous

If anyone here can interject on my thoughts for my performance upgrades I would be most appreciated. I get the since that most of you already know what to do and maybe some of you wish you had done it different the first time. By the way, will I need or should I add a better free flowing Catalytic converter, if so, any suggestions?

Just in case it matters, I have an 07 Armada LE 4x4 about 500 miles with the factory tow package and auto leveling (whatever that is) I think my gears are something like 3:33 (I think that’s what my fleet sales guy told me)

I traded my 04 Armada SE 2wd, I had added only the Volant CAI, which was loud but worked great; It netted me an average of 1.8 MPG. When I traded, it was well broken in with 64k miles all of which was run with Royal Purple. My 04 felt much quicker and responsive; granted I have not stressed my 07 at this time and probably wont for another 1k miles or so, but off the line my 04 jumped hard, sometimes causing my wife and kids to protest just as hard. Although the 07 claims 12hp over my 04, I actually think my 04 was quicker than my 07 and maybe quick enough to have beaten my automatic 350z; or at least given it a run for the money ( I always wanted to try it but that would have been hard to get my wife to do it and do it right…where’s your buddies when you need them…)

Thanks guys and girls,

Sit’

Note: JBA Headers 1400 SJS do not have the bolt on collector plate in place. This means you will have to cut your exisiting exhaust piping, measure where to cut, then weld it to bottom of headers. These are not bolt on headers as the picture indicates. They do bolt to your heads but after that you have to cut & weld etc. Takes about 6 hours yourself or maybe you can find a Midas place to do it. My input only.

Well the Stillen VK Pro module is not going to be released till end of May 07. Any one thing you put on is not going to see a big gain but things in conjunction with others make a bigger different. Example intake, exhaust, headers ect... will work better together than just one. There's a 90mm TB you can get for your Armada.:D

I would suggest heading over to www.clubtitan.org as they are more "performance" minded over there.:D

Thanks for the info; this is a great place for feedback. It looks like I will do further research into this. Since my first post I had wondered to TT and found many more post as you mentioned revolving around performance. Thanks for the links also.

If you do the headers, do the long tubes. Ceramic is good. Shorties don't do squat and I don't know the part number to know if you are looking long tube or shorty. ;)

I just got off the phone with a rep from JBA and he said that “long tubes” are not available for the Titan/Armada. He also said that the long tubes are for high RPM race type applications. Can you comment on this?

JBA doesn't make long tube headers for the Armada/Titan, but Stillen and Powerflow do. Long tube headers make more power on the low end, not just the high end. The long tube headers also have equal length tubes, so they are a tuned header. The short tube headers are not equal length tube. They are just "improved" manifolds; they will give some increase over the stock manifolds but will not equal the performance of the long tubes.
