Is anyone else having or had problems with the power tailgate refusing to open or close? If so and it was fixed what was the fix?

This may sound stupid, but make sure your rear window is closed. It may feel closed, and the light might not even be on. But, before you assume something is wrong, open the rear window and slam it closed. This same thing happened to me on my 1st Armada.

Rear window is probably unlatched. Visually, you won't see a difference. This happens if someone pulls on the wrong handle, which is why I just use the remote or interior buttons exclusively to open the rear. ;)

its not the rear window, it seems like the latch sticks when trying to open and when trying to close it can't overcome the shocks. It closes properly about 50% of the time and everytime I try to open it it gives me a problem and i have to help it.

I also use only the buttons or the remote to open/close the tailgate unless I have to help it. I picked it up from service on Wed and they said it was fixed and of course the first time i tried it same problem. I was kind of hoping to hear if anyone else had to have it fixed and what the repair was.

I've been experiencing the same problem lately too .. so far I attribute to the weather .. ie .. it seems it only happens if its been warm (90s or higher) out. Not a good situation if in CA .. where the summers will bring 90+ weather at long stretches. Note this has only recently started .. had no issues in 2005 or 2006?

I too only use the button (inside the truck) or the remote (key fob) to open/close the door. We don't open the rear window.

Sometimes using the remote .. the locking/unlocking the doors doesn't work.
It's an intermittent problem .. it'll work fine some days .. then partially work, ie .. just the front door will unlock .. or not at all.

Its being taken in to the dealership today to take a look at .. and some other service (getting the iPod adapter installed) .. etc ..

Mine had a blown out gas shock. Warranty fixed it. ;)

I'm getting closer in my search ..

Now my rear door will open ... but won't stay open. It goes up .. then SLAMS down. Not a good situation, if you kind of just jump into the rear .. as the door raises.

M5 05 had that issue for a il while, and it all started when an idiot that was with me, close the tail gait manualy instead of mechanicaly, after that is didnt wanna open, and I closed it and open manually like 5 times just to see mess with it and after that it didnt gave me that issue no more. Not that this will fix ur issue, but I can at least tell u what did cause the trouble for me, so from now on on my 08 and let nobody open or close it manualy, just to prevent that same issue.
