: Injen vs. AEM CAI
Biggy Gib 05-05-2007, 10:02 AM Curious if there is a big difference between the AEM and Injen CAIs. Injen has some pretty high HP gains on their site. I know they both list claims based on having upgraded exhaust as well. Any feedback is greatly appreciated...
Chris03HD 05-05-2007, 12:13 PM You will be happy with both.
Some have said they went from a Volant or AEM over to the Injen, and noticed a power increase.. Im told one guy showed a gain when he dyno'd his truck also.
Either way, both, including the Volant are great intakes.
faircloth79 05-05-2007, 06:56 PM First off, I'm new and I'm excited about joining this site.
Now, for the CAI... what about a K&N? Many sites offer Injen, Vlant, and K&N. Most people on this site have the Volant. Any idea why no one seems to go with K&N?
Thanks.
baseballfanz 05-05-2007, 07:32 PM The Volant is prefer cause it's seal off from the engine (true cold air intake). Nothing wrong with K&N IMO. S&B is a new intake on the market that's sealed off also limilar to Volant. Most intake will give about the same numbers. I think the little extra power for the Injen come from the filter design, stack velocity. Some like the AEM/Fram Boost for the dry filter, no oil needed.
clostoyo 05-05-2007, 08:10 PM if it were from AEM and injen , i would say injen., but put olant in the pcture, and i would say volant, it looka performs and sounds great!@
Biggy Gib 05-05-2007, 08:21 PM If I had no budget constraints (or need to clear with the boss/wife) I would switch over from the AEM to the Injen. Hey, at least I have the AEM.....
92TripleBlack 05-06-2007, 12:34 AM They were all tested and came up within a HP or two of each other, so buy on price, looks, sound, etc. not power improvement. ;)
faircloth79 05-06-2007, 01:32 AM Good info guys. That helps alot. I'm not looking to do too much to my mada. I'm still new to tuning an SUV, to be honest.
Thanks again.
Kailo 05-06-2007, 02:12 AM Hey faircloth79,Welcome to CA, Nice Avatar...lol

Welcome to the club faircloth79!!!!!!
92TripleBlack 05-06-2007, 11:48 AM Yeah, a Fiesta is a supercar next to a Yugo. :D
BlakSpyda 05-06-2007, 07:32 PM Yugo was the Bic Disposable of cars!
galaktified 05-06-2007, 08:30 PM Yeah, a Fiesta is a supercar next to a Yugo. :D
LOL!! Hey it gets you from point A to point B!
Welcome to the club faircloth79! This site a great forum with its information and members! Enjoy!

Another vote for Injen. You get what you pay for.
92TripleBlack 05-07-2007, 12:00 AM I like Volant, but Injen is whatI'd pick from the two listed.
faircloth79 05-07-2007, 08:27 PM I feel you guys, but is it REALLY worth another $100? I think I'm going with the Volant because of the cleaner look. Plus, I kinda agree with the whole "sealed" scenario. CAI's work best, IMO anyway, being sealed.
I'm torn... in the end, it's all about perspective.
Does look > power or power > look. Decisions, decisions.
By the way... I'll be getting some 24's soon. Prolly gonna go with Giovannas, but not sure yet.
zeppelinman 05-07-2007, 09:08 PM IMHO, I don't think a CAI would prove beneficial w/o the addition of an exhaust, downpipe & header. I have a AEM CAI and didn't notice anything until I completed that set w/the downpipe w/a high flow cat... only then did I really feel the car sucking in the air like a $2 hooker...
I seriously doubt a CAI of any brand by itself would produce substantial power gains... maybe 2hp? If it was me and I was looking for a little extra power, I would put that extra $200-$250 towards an exhaust... but that's just my opinion :)
faircloth79 05-08-2007, 12:53 AM Well, I just purchased the Injen. I read several posts and talked with a large amount of people, including my dad... who's a master mechanic.
So, I'll be getting it in a few days and I'll let you guys know what I see as far as performance. I won't be taking it to Dyno or anything, but we'll see how it feels on the road.
Later,
BPSG Armada 05-08-2007, 09:14 PM I just bought a CAI from Injen. Cool sounding adn a noticeable response. I also did the 2* advance.
