This may seem like a very basic question to some of you, and for all I know, it might be. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to store my audio CD's on my computer's hard drive and convert them into .mp3 files. Does anybody know how to do this?
Thanks in advance.

I use musicmatch, I have no complaints with it. I bought the lifetime upgrade back when they were like version 1 for $30 I think. I don't know how much the software is now.
You just put the cd in and tell it to rip it to several different formats (your choice) It will convert between formats as well. I figured out also if you buy a song from their online store they have limits on the number of copies blah, blah, blah you can have but if you burn it to a cd and then rip it back off that CD you can "free" it up.
It has a lot of other nice features. There are lots of other software out there though and they all do basically the same thing.

Does Windows Media Player do this?

Yes, Windows media player will convert CD into MP3's. It is called ripping. There are also lots of free programs on the internet that will do it as well.
As for the songs you buy online...there are programs that you can use to convert them out of the proprietary format and into a more friendly MP3 format.
PM me if you want any specifics.

I'm partial to Itunes myself...anyone else use an Ipod? Itunes rips and burns disks quickly and elegantly. The only downside is that it will encode your music using aac and not mp3, but if you don't mix audio apps it shouldn't be an issue.

Itunes music can very easily be turned into MP3's and then put on anything you want.

Cool thanks guys. On the topic of IPods, have any of you connected one to the aux input of the Armadas radio?
