im new to the nissan family. i just picked up an 08 armada for my wife. she seems to be liking it so far. but i have questions on what coputer programers (chips) are available for the armadas. i did a google search and didnt come up with much. just wondering which brands if any are the best. and if the chips give any results. i have a dodge hemi and the chips dont really do much the trucks nazi computer system always seem to find away to revert back to near stock settings. do the armadas have the same problem? sorry for all the questions

Welcome to the club. Your wife is lucky!

I wouldn't put any stock in any performance chip. There are a few members that have them in their Armads and Titans, but not but a few can claim improvement. Since it is an '08, allow the vehicle to learn how she drives it. If you think you need more performance after a couple on months and adequate miles, then think about intake and exhaust modifications. My guess is the '08 Armada has more than enough in the performance area.

Welcome to the Club!!!!!

I believe most of the guys are obtaining the best chip results from getting the Uprev ECU Reflash tune and using the Cipher Software. The Cipher allows them to make modifications anytime that they want.

There are NO programmers for the Armada as of now.
There's a few company that offer ECU (ECM) reflash, Stillen is supposed to be releasing their VK-Pro module any day now. Cobb Tuning is working on a "programmer" but even that is that a true programmer. It will come with pre tuned MAP you can select from.

Up Rev Cipher is a data logging tool with ability to do minor adjustment like timing. It's not a programmer.
You would have to go to them or mail in your ECU. They are working on an end user product which might be out in a few months.

I have the uprev tune and they are almost complete with thier end user tuner software...last I talked to them anyway. From my experience you can't improve much if you keep everything stock. I think I may of gained about 0.1sec in 0-60. Mileage hasn't changed except for it may of gone down some. Adding exhaust and cai will get you a little more out of a tune. All the improvement I've gotten has been off the line, mid and upper rpm I don't think I've gained much. The 08's have the CVT correct? I don't know if they've tuned a CVT yet but they may have. For the cost I'd say get the PGM. Talk to RBsTitan over at Clubtitan. He and another member have started putting together a throttle body package that converts out 70mm tb to a 90mm. Everyone that has test drove his vehicle or been lucky enough to test the proto type on their titan have had great reviews. The only thing I would warn against is that it sounds like the throttle reponse is a little sensitive and until you learn that you'll be working against the vdc due to all the wheel spin.

I think you mean VVT, not CVT.:)

They did just recently tuned an 07 Titan with VVT.
