: Brake Problems after having fix done already?

Just wondering if anyone else is still having brake problems on their Armada even after having the "fix" done. Have a 2005 Armada I purchased used in the summer of 2005. Would have thought the dealer would have performed the fix prior to our purchasing the truck since the fix was out in May of 2005. However, in October of 2005, the brakes failed and they had performed the "fix" by replacing the front pads and rotors and resurfaced the rear rotors. Well 40000 miles later the pads had never squeeled at all. We brought the truck into the dealer for an oil change and asked them to check fluids and such prior to a vacation we're taking. They called and told us that we needed to have the pads and rotors replaced. I can understand the pads since it's been a year and a half later, even though they didn't give the customary squeel that they were wearing down. However, I find it hard to believe that we've already worn through the rotors as well. I asked if this was still under the Brake Shudder Extended warranty since according to Nissan1, that extended warranty is still in effect on my vehicle until 11/2/07. The dealership told me that the fix was already installed so therefore it won't be replaced again under warranty. Does this sound like it is related to the original issue and should still be covered under that extended warranty? Or does this sound like a standard timeframe to have to replace these on a large SUV? I've never owned a large SUV before and LOVE my armada. However, I was surprised to be having to replace the rotors again even though we hadn't had to change the pads prior to this and had no squeeling or grinding as though we had worn through the pads. Any advice or feedback would be appreciated.

~~~~.
Firts of all, welcome to Club Armada.
40,000 miles is great for any brake job for an SUV this size, but replacing the rotors shouldn't be happening since you just had them replaced. Unless you do lots of downhill driving and ride your brakes often. Just my opinon
I have an 05 and had the brake retro kit done, i'm not at the 40K mile marker yet but, tha does sound a little abnormal on rotors wearing again. If it was me I would ask for the service record of when the brakes were fixed prior.
My dealer fixed mine twice for free. I wore mine out in 30k. I was going to pay but they did it for free so I didn't ask questions. I have never NEVER had a rotor last more than one set of pads. I know they should, I have always had the brakes done prior to the squeal of the metal in the pads scoring the rotor, but they always say they tried turning them and they were too scored and they took off too much metal, making them out of spec. This has always ticked me off but now I'm resigned to just buying new rotors for every vehicle every brake job. Probably running at about 15 of them so far. Regardless, I don't mind new rotors anyway. You may want to buy aftermarket ones. Cheaper and work just as well. Try the Tirerack for example.
Welcome to the Club!!!
Like TB said, replacing instead of turning rotors seems to be more common these days. Although I'm still far from 30k, I've been told that most OEM Rotors just aren't designed to last long anymore.
Mine are golden since the "fix", plus very little brake dust.
that's horrible...are you sure they replaced the brake rotor before? Should you bring it other mechanics and have it check..Look for another opinion if you are in doubt.
I have a similar issue. My 05 had the upgrade done at 2500 miles and at 38000 I'm starting to get a little brake judder between 55mp and 65 mph. I told the dealer and they told me that the rotors are probably warped a little and that I should have them machined. I can understand that since it is a big SUV. So I took it to a reputable shop, that I trust, and they told me the same thing and that my pads were like new but the rotors are a little warped. Not too bad and that it was probably the beginning of the judder. They recommended swapping the rotors with something from EBC or Powerstop and that's what I went with. Same pads and no more judder for now anyway.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, that if you need new pads, they probably didn't change yours to the supersede brake set up. I'm not sure how thick the new pads were when they did my brake job, but after the upgrade and 36000 miles later, I still have 10mm worth of material on front and rear pads.
I hope this helps a little.
Yes, mine are bad again, less than 20,000 miles. I drive it very easy also.
Dealer told me Nissan WILL NOT pay for any further repairs for brake judder after the first fix. They also have not been able to figure out why my battery goes dead if its not started everyday. I tried a new battery but no luck there either.
Looking like it may be time to sale.
Call me crazy but I'm already experiencing some pulsation when stopping, almost as if it is thinking of stopping before actually doing it. Mine's an 07 with about 5k miles on it.
