Just a short story of what had happened.... (no i'm not going to start again on racing 4 bangers!:) )

The other night I went to the bank, jumped out of the Mada and went to the ATM Machine. Got back into the Mada and..... she didn't start! I honestly was like WTF? This has never happened to me! I've only had her for less than a year and a half... anyhow, the worse part was I left my cell phone at home and I had my 20 month old daughter with me. To make a long story short, I ended up trying to jump start the Mada with my sister-in-law's F150. The only response that I got was a clicking noise. I was pretty much upset at that point. I decided to leave the Mada there at the bank and go home! I rode my motorcycle first thing in the morning and called a tow truck. The tow guy was able to jump me... from there I went to the dealership. There they stated that it was the battery the whole time...

What got me was... do batteries usually go out that soon... I've never had a battery die on me less than 2 years! Anyone else had this problem? Please share your experience, 2 cents & ideas! Has anyone replaced their OEM battery to a yellow top?

Oh.. In addition... Someone please confirm "again"... that if the battery has been replaced, that the 2*TA is still programmed!

My battery died on me 6months having her also my alternator and fuel pump went out. I was on the freeway on the way to work im on the fast lane I punch it to change to the next lane and she just died on me. I was lucky enough to pull over to the emergency lane. Not a good feeling luckily i was towed and had a nice 2 door G35 as a loaner.

There's been quite a few that died before 2 years. Everyone says the factory batteries are junk. You will not loose your TA.

I wish Nissan would figure out what the problem is. I just installed my 3rd battery, in two years.

I don't know much about batteries so I'm not sure if my experience is relevant but here goes:
When I had my Cherokee I had the same scenerio happen to me. To keep my story short, it turned out that I just needed to clean the connection points on the battery.

Had to change mines at about 2 years.

Yep right at about 2 years for me too. I had about a half dozen time where it needed to be jump started, the first was 6 days after I bought it and that was sitting at the dealership.

I was doing some painting around the house yesterday and when I started I found out I had the wrong color match. No problem, I'll go back to Home Depot and they will match it. Get in the truck, turn the key and..................
My neighbors probably thought I was having a fit! Which I was!

Dead battery! 47K miles, a year and a half. My son gave me a jump and it ran fine. Drove around for a half hour, came home and turned it off. tried to start it again. Click, click, click.

Called everywhere yesterday and nobody seems to have one in stock that fits. So I call one of the Nissan dealers that I will pass on the way to work and, of course, they have the OEM battery in stock. $100, so I will be stopping in there after I get jumped off on Monday morning.

I'd say you had a dead cell..
I would say to step to the Big Tow Battery that is 710 amp (27F) or aftermarket gel.
I had to replace my battery for the same thing about 1 year ago,
I went to lunch & then truck would not start.
Now its even worse when you a Nissan Tech wearing your uniform & have to call someone else for a Jump Start.
I have rechecked the +2 T/A after 4 days disconnected & it was still there.
TT is having a Meet at Mission Bay (SD) but of course Aramdas are well too.
I will recheck it for you, If you just stop by
Mission Bay Sunday Aug 19 th @ 11 am.

Not that it's good, but I usually just get the Everlast batteries from Wal-Mart because they are open 24/7 and they always last about 2-years which is fine by me.

When mines goes out I'll go back to the Optima Gel battery. When I used to compete in car stereo competitions years ago they were monsters that just kept going and going....

I have an 05' and just went through the same thing. I wanted to get an Optima, but was under pressure to get one before a trip.

I was surprised when mine died too.

I drove a Titan for 3years with 55K miles and no battery issues. I didnt have the big tow and I have a couple of amps for the system. Is the titan battery the same with the armada?

Thanks for everyones response! The service guy stated that it's battery season... another question I asked was if I went with the Gel if it would fit. He stated that it would be to big and would have to make some modifications... so that's my second question!

TAZ... thanks bud... I'll try and make it out to the meet in Mission Bay!

Matrix... Yea... I wish i was booming... I miss my bass! I still have my box stripped in the garage... waiting until I have time to re-carpet the box!

Again... thanks everyone for your input! Seem like everyone else had similar issues and went through the same thing + will be going through this shortly... sorry =)

That's a good question. I just replaced the battery in my Wife's Murano last month after only about 18 months of use.

Looks like Titan and Armada have the same battery.

Anyway, since I was in my work attire, I let them install it. $138 total.:D

My battery went bad three days after a year. They charged me $55.00 for a new one. They said Nissan replaces them for free within the first year. Thre days after a year and they charged me.

Don't you have an 06? Shouldn't the batteries be under warranty?

Batteries are like lights and tires. Not warrantyed for long. I got 47K. Even with my extended warranty the battery isn't covered.

go to maintenance free.. hot summer and heat under the hood is bad for these conventional batteries. optima batteries are great. when i was living up in MD (Gaithersburg sypda) i purchased a red top battery for my eclipse i had. that was in 2003. its now 2007 and the eclipse is gone but the battery now lives in the altima. well we have 3 cars and the altima is the last one we drive, so at times he battery will lose change due to the car sitting... well i quick charge and the battery is back and all is well.

i purchased my first yellow top back in 1993. that battery lasted until 2002. i **** you not.

i have a yello top in the jetta. going on 3 years...

get the point? :p

I was looking for a Yellow or Red Top when it went out, but everywhere I checked had none and I would have had to order it and wait three days. Also, checking their computers yeilded that the ones thay had dd not fit the Armada. I think the one for the Armada is the D34R. Like I said, I couldn't find one.

I believe what I have read about them so far. My patience was wearing thin, so I settled for the OEM heavy duty.

I'll know next time.

I didn't ask about getting one, but I saw a display of them (Blue, Red, & Yellow) at Sam's Club a couple weeks ago but I don't know if all the stores have them or not.

Thanks Pops. You know how it goes, "The squeeky wheel gets the grease!" I probably will not worry until the wheel gets squeeky again, I but I will have all of the info for the local area. I will check availability with Sam's, BJs and CostCo.

one thing... the reason I believe the battery died in my above post is due to the COLD COLD winters in MD! the car it was in never really moved and it was out in the cold and i think that finally killed it over... i am a fanboy of optima and dont mind saying it... experience i have had with them speaks volumes.

usually though, the bigger optima yellows need to be special ordered so i totally understand your decision spydie....
