: Auto Roll Up Mod
ARMADAinSMOKE 04-21-2005, 12:59 AM Has anyone done this? My friend gave me one brand new cause he is too lazy to install it. After I installed it, I have noticed that my doors automatically lock after I start my car. I was wondering if this is normal.
By the way, the window roll up feature works great. It was an easy install after I found out which wires to use. The instructions were for a 350Z or G35.
While on the subject, anyone successful and making the rear windows auto roll down with the front?

Tell us more about what you did.

bootyologist24 04-21-2005, 03:20 AM Interesting mod. Tell us more. My doors lock on my integra when i start the car and unlocks when I turn off.
indresda 04-21-2005, 04:33 AM my armada doen't do that, locks when i turn on the car.....how you do that?
adjmcloon 04-21-2005, 10:36 AM I'd like to hear about the roll up mod too.
ARMADAinSMOKE 04-21-2005, 12:31 PM I'll get more information on the "black box" (company who made it). The instructions were not for our Armada, but I got the wiring from someone on titantalk.com. I will post the info later on tonight.
I love this mod!!! I just wish the rear windows can join in the fun. :D
lrohr12 04-21-2005, 12:45 PM Is the auto roll up mod for the switches on the door or for the key fob? I have an '05 Armada SE and the window switches have auto roll up already.
Poorboy 04-21-2005, 01:39 PM Ya, I miss that feature (autolock that is) from my Tundra.. What is it??
92TripleBlack 04-21-2005, 04:57 PM He has wired the Armada windows to roll up when you hit the lock button on the remote, the reverse of the roll down feature on the unlock buttion. As a side effect, the doors now lock when you start the car. I'd like the auto rollup feature and would like to hook the roll down and roll up to the sunroof as well. Don't know if I care for the door locking automatically when I turn on the car however. PITA sometimes.
adjmcloon 04-21-2005, 05:13 PM I'd like to have this mod, I like it when the doors lock. My Tahoe did that as well, but with it when you pulled the lever from the inside it would auto-unlock the door. It would be nice to be able to roll up the windows with the key FOB. Any more info out there?
Poorboy 04-21-2005, 08:09 PM If it locks when you start the vehicle, does it unlock when you turn it off???

Poorboy 04-21-2005, 10:39 PM Pretty cool I must say....
:clever:
ARMADAinSMOKE 04-22-2005, 12:44 AM Here's the link...............http://www.kptechnologies.net/
Thanks 04armada!!! That is exactly what I have. The doors auto lock when I start the car, but they do not unlock when the car is turned off. You auto roll up the window by hitting the lock button twice on your key fob. It's great!!
The wiring instructions it came with did not show wiring for the Armada. A correction to my previous statement....I got the wiring from the DIY thread on clubtitan.
Does anyone know how to make it so that the rear windows will auto roll up and down with the front?
Campfamily 04-22-2005, 02:28 PM Very cool! I think I'm going to get one.
Keith
that place is just a short ride away. I may get this on my Max as a test-money.
adjmcloon 04-22-2005, 07:03 PM Is it possible to have the roll up feature, but not the autolock?
Shamus 04-23-2005, 05:05 AM In reading the information on their site here is my understanding of some the questions being asked......
The Window up feature will only work for the windows already connected to the door lock cylinder ..... The same windows that come down when your turn and hold your key in the doorlock ..... I believe that is only the front two windows on the Armada but i havent put my key in the door since the day I bought it. Also because of this I do not believe that you would be able to control the sunroof either.
The auto lock feature can be disabled.
The system is NOT able to auto UNLOCK.
Again this is just my understanding from what I read.... I did not contact the vendor.
KPierson 04-23-2005, 11:53 PM Due to the RAP system of the vehicle the KPtechnologies window module can NOT unlock the doors once the vehicle is shut off. The window up module was originally designed for the G35 coupe in which you can open the doors from the inside even if they are locked. It turns out that NO other Nissan vehicle has this feature. In fact, it was deleted from the 05 coupes.
To disable the auto-lock feature 1. Open the drivers door 2. Turn the igniton to the 'ON' position (not necesarry to start the vehicle) 3. Press the 'LOCK' button three times within 5 seconds (leave roughly .5 seconds between pulses for best results). Turn the igniton off and then back on and the doors should no longer auto lock!
We (KPtechnologies) are currently working on a solution for the rear windows. The major issue at hand is the lack of an anti-pinch system. Without the anti-pinch system the BCM doesn't allow for remote operation of the windows. We have engineered a bypass, but it involves using 3 separate window modules (instead of the 1 module that is needed on two door vehicles). It may be possible with a little additional wiring to include the rear windows with the front windows, BUT like I said, there will be NO anti - pinch system. The KPtechnologies window module is designed to STOP all windows from moving if a 'LOCK' pulse is recieved any time after a valid 'raise' command is sent (safety and allows for venting).
If anyone has any question please let me know, and if anyone lives in Mason and would like to take a trip to Dayton one weekend for a test install I'll clear some time.

KPierson 04-23-2005, 11:58 PM Oh, and I forgot, we are currently in the testing phase of a complete stand alone auto door locking/unlocking system that will be capable of being RPM controlled (once you hit 2,000ish RPM the doors will lock and stay locked until you shut the car off).
We are expecting it to be on our site in less then six weeks with a MSRP of $39.99 (three relays will be required for installation on Nissans - $19.99, and the RPM add on switch will be $29.99)
If you don't use the RPM add on switch the doors will lock ~6 seconds after you start the vehicle. There is also an input for drivers door pin so that if the door is open when the truck is started the doors will NOT auto-lock that cycle (they will still unlock).
Thanks again,

bbeanan 04-24-2005, 12:04 PM Hey Kevin, I have been looking for a mod that will close my sunroof in the event of rain. Do you guys have anything like that or know where I could find one??
ARMADAinSMOKE 04-24-2005, 01:29 PM Does anyone know how to wire the rear windows to auto function with the front? I don't really care about the Anti-pinch system.
KPierson 04-25-2005, 10:26 PM Does anyone have the service manual availible? I have been looking for the bl.pdf, gw.pdr, and rf.pdf files.
KPtechnologies is currently developing a remote sunroof open/close module for the Infiniti G35. This module appears to be compatible with the FX35s and FX45s and MAY be compatible with the Armada, I won't know until I check out the rf.pdf file.
As far as auto up it could be done fairly easily. In fact, the window up module could be set up to function as an auto up module. You basically just need a trigger device and a relay interface and you'll be set.
KPierson 04-26-2005, 08:10 PM I received the service manual sections today and I have 'most' of the wire colors. The service manual has a mistake in it!
In the BL (body/locks) section it states the key cylinder lock wire as one color, but in the GW (glass/windows) section it shows it being another color. I would 'guess' that the right color is red, but it may be blue.
12VDC – White / Red
Ground – Black
Lock Actuator – Violet
Lock key cylinder – either blue or red (service manual states both – error)
IGN – White / Blue
Thank you Todd for sending the manual, it was vey helpful, and I'll be sending your test module out ASAP.
Also, the sunroof of the Armada is completely different then the G35 and the FX35 (for those interested in SR control). The service manual shows that the sunroof has a dedicted 'close' button and a dedicated 'tilt down' button. The Infinitis only have 2 buttons total! It would seem possible to re-code our SR module to work with the Armada, if there is any interest.
Thank you all,

The installations are basically generic, based off of the installation on a G35. The instruction manual explains exactly how to find and test each wire necesarry. We do this because of the large amount of vehicles we are dealing with. Our support forum is always the best way to get specific information, as its constantly being updated with new info! www.KPtechnologies.com/forums

How's the testing coming along for the rpm-activated door lock? I don't think I saw it on your website. :p
KPierson 09-14-2005, 01:00 AM We are in the process of finalizing the testing. I made some changes to the output circuitry on the board and it has created a few unplanned problems. I should have the parts to fix this problem by the weekend, then testing can resume.

Hey man i am from over at Clubtitan and was curious as to where the hell that purple wire is. I am trying to find this wire and i am lost
!arni! 12-26-2005, 12:00 AM KPierson, I just had a couple of questions for you. I sent in an email to the company a couple off weeks ago and still no reply. This is what I am looking for. I want to get the roll up module for both my 05 Armada and my 05 Maxima. I was reading the threads posted here and if I am not mistakend "all four windows can wired to roll up together on each vehicle..." is that correct? If they cant then its all good though, because I still want to install them on my vehicles anyways. Thanks
KPierson 12-26-2005, 12:12 AM Arni,
Lower all the windows of the vehicle, get out of it, and then turn the key in the drivers key cylinder and hold it in the 'LOCK' position. The windows that rise while doing this are the windows that will be controlled by our module. It wouldn't be impossible to add the rear windows, if they aren't controlled, but they will NOT have anti pinch (that is the ultimate deciding factor of what windows will be controlled - all windows that have OEM anti pinch systems installed).
Please let me know if you have any other questions,
Kevin
!arni! 12-26-2005, 04:14 AM Kevin, so when Place the order for the Maxima and the Armada. Do I still put on the order that it's for an Armada? I know that I wont have a problem with the one for the Maxima since it's made for Maxima, but what about the Armada. I plan to make the order in a couple of days. Thanks Kevin
Arni
KPierson 12-26-2005, 09:46 AM All the Nissan modules are the same, so you can put either vehicle in the box. You can put Maxima/Armada in there, and that should cover all your bases.
Thanks!
Kevin
boo5o3 12-26-2005, 08:35 PM Kevin, seeing you are making these for the armada, i'm assuming it will also work for the QX? I wouldn't see why not, but i jus need to clarify... :udaman:
leigh 12-26-2005, 11:06 PM I'm not sure I know what everyone is talking about. I have an 04 Armada and it has always had automatic window roll up and down. I didn't install anything, it came like that. Did I miss something?
!arni! 12-26-2005, 11:26 PM I think that you are talking about the inside of the Vehicle and not the KeyFob. The keyFob is the keyless entry remote
ockevin 12-26-2005, 11:27 PM we are talking about when your armada is off and you hit the factory remote twice and it rolls up your windows automatically, it done with a KP tech, module
!arni! 12-26-2005, 11:36 PM Leigh,
The Armada is already equiped with automatic roll down windows if you hold the unlock button for more that 3 seconds on your Keyless entry remote. Both the driver and the passanger side windows will roll down. The only problem with this is that you have to manually get in the vehicle and roll them up yourself by hitting the rollup buttons on your door. KPTechnologies has come up with an outstanding device that enables you to configure the OEM system to some how roll up your windows with the Keyfob and not have to get in the vehicle and roll them up manually. Does this help. If you read your quick reference guide for your truck, it explains everything you need to know.
KPierson 12-27-2005, 12:16 AM Kevin, seeing you are making these for the armada, i'm assuming it will also work for the QX? I wouldn't see why not, but i jus need to clarify... :udaman:
We actually started out making these for the G35 and the 350Z. Since the introduction of them though we have found that they work on many other Nissan products.
If you can lower your windows by holding the 'UNLOCK' button on your keyfob and raise the windows by holding your key in the 'LOCK' position in the drivers side key cylinder then the module should work.
The install instructions are fairly generic, and walk through a typical G35 installation. For door panel removal please consult your favorite vehicle specific forum. Also, wire colors are usually different from vehicle to vehicle, so you must either manually probe the wires or consult the service manual for wiring information (if we don't have it already on our support forum - www.KPtechnologies.com/forums).
Thanks!

ockevin 12-27-2005, 12:52 AM In the instructions....it gives you the option to have the doors to auto lock or not. You can still change it.

hey i was wondering could i do this with the back windows i understand the whole anti pinch thing but i would like to have 4 windows that go up and/or down or the front 2 that go up and down and the back 2 that just roll up
would i need to add another module i have seen 4 door modules that can be integrated with the factory system
http://alarmsellout.com/f-4wm.htm
KPierson 12-27-2005, 06:13 PM Typically when control modules like that our integrated with OEM alarms there is no control over the system. When you lock the doors, the windows go up. There is typically no way to leave the windows down on a sunny day (although with additional parts you can lower the winodws back down after they go all the way up.)
Our module could be used as a trigger to the module you linked to. Our module outputs a (-) 100mA signal that can be diode isolated from the OEM wiring, and tapped in to by than aftermarket window module.
I'm gonna buy one and from the page above and I'll try it out. I know this setup would be VERY popular among the Murano owners.
KPierson 12-27-2005, 06:16 PM Ouch, $16 in shipping!

i already have your roll up module i have yet to have it installed no way to verify the colors in the door
KPierson 12-27-2005, 06:57 PM You should be able to take it to a local car audio shop and have it installed. The wires listed on our support forum are for the Armada, from the Armada service manual, so they should be correct.
Also, you can pick up a descent digital multimeter at Sears for around $30, and a good DMM is essential when doing electronic mods to any vehicle!
