: Another Consumer Reports Bash!

I saw this on this and though I would share it. It says the QX56, Titan and Armada along with some European cars were the most unlikely candidates for making the 200,000 mile mark. I know that in most cases they are not reliable but I keep my vehicles for along time and I want the Mada to last for at least 200,000 miles.

Consumer Reports' "Good bets" for making 200,000 miles: Honda Civic, Honda CR-V, Honda Element, Lexus ES, Lexus LS, Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Prius, Toyota RAV4

Consumer Reports' "Bad bets" for making 200,000 miles: BMW 7-series, Infiniti QX56, Jaguar X-type, V8-powered Mercedes-Benz M-class, Mercedes-Benz SL, Nissan Armada, Nissan Titan, Volkswagen Touareg, V6-powered Volvo XC90.

Yeah, that's what they get for cutting labor costs and hiring street dependant crack-heads to do their reporting. I haven't seen much accurate info in there yet. Their reports contradict a lot with the Car magazines too.

Take note: As always, they have Honda and Toyota at the top of their list. The industry Darlings (Hiney Smoochers)!

We just have to accept that CR will never say anything good about the Armada & Titan, so who cares. I've never bought a car based on what CR says. I love my Armada. We know Toyota and Hondas are good vehicles but I rather be driving a vehicle that you don't see everywhere versus one that everyone in your neighborhood has.

I've had Nissans since they were called Datsuns and I will always own one.

Yes,:) thanks for posting the information. I hope I didn't come off as being too angry... it's just that the words "Consumer Report" usually put me in a bad mood because of their "as expected" biased reporting.

how long has the armada been out? is there really a qx/mada/titan anywhere with anywhere near 200k on it? highly doubt it. but the civic, etc have all been out for damn near ever, and they usually make it that far. toyotas v6engines have been known to get 200 easy, so picking them shouldnt be to hard. i love toyotas as much as nissan, i just dont see how you can rate a car thats only been out for a fewyears as not being able to reach 200,000.

I found a Titna by searching Manheim auto auction with over 300k on it. Check out the info...what do they have to say about that!

Yeah, I am a little hesitant to believe that too. That's a lot of miles, unless you are a trucker. That's something like 205 miles a day.

As for CR I stopped believing them a long time ago.

As for CR I stopped believing them a long time ago. It's doable though. Car and Driver had an article about a man with a Honda Accord (uh oh the "H" word lol) with 400k miles and counting. And it was not too old either. Some people commute like crazy, or even drive (deliver) for a living.

Personally I am with all of you all: CR are about MORONS if they think the Nissan V8 and its 5 speed AT won't make it to 200k. In fact it HIGHLY laughable to think otherwise.

Let's be serious, the only "real" problems are the well documented rearend diffrential in Titans, and the occasional cracked exhaust manifold (Titan/Armada/QX56). Either way, both are fixable, and would hardly make your vehicle a "throw away" car/truck.

That being in Manheim, I am sure that it is 323,433 km which converts to 200,528.46 miles. I believe that mileage is possible and attainable.

True and I have seen plenty of them with 150k...having a chain with a big believe that these cars can get up to 500k because they have a lot of power reserved unlike a CRV that has a the engine of a Civic. The larger the engine the longer it lasts!

It was some consumer report rating armada one of the most unreliable. I love mine though :)

They are STILL using 2004 data and trying to extrapolate that since the 2004s had weak front brake rotors, that a 2008 engine won't last to 200k. What a joke. Just another reason not to read them. Spread the word.
