I'm going to give my son the 1999 Dodge Intrepid we have, he is 16 and he is going to get his license soon. He loves to do mods with cars...We already debadged everything for that clean look.....We sanded and spray painted the bottom half of the car black lol (there were many scratches, so the black spray paint hid all of them) but the spray paint is holding up good (even through two winters.) Anyways What else can we do to this project car, that doesn't cost a lot of money, i don't want him putting too much money into this car. pix attached.....

sell it and buy something worth modding...
just playin. slap some decent looking 16" wheels on it (so you can use the same tires). tint the windows nice and dark. that'll make it look decent!!

VHT Nite Shades the rear tail lights... cheap easy mod.
I would clean the headlight lenses with some plastic polish. first use 1000 grit wet sandpaper then buff them out with plastic wax/polish. They'll look new and shiny.

We got a '99 Intrepid to drive my granny around in that's identical to yours about 5 years ago for $2k. That baby runs solid and I was looking into replacing the headlight covers before we had to admit her into a retirement home. Those headlights are'nt too bad to replace and it will give him something to work towards. There's also Euro ones avail if he's into that. Here's some stock ones: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/shop_parts/headlight/dodge/intrepid.html

I highly recommend not tinting the windows or lights (head or tail).
A 16 year old needs to see and be seen by others. That's just MHO.
I'd definately polish the headlights. It will allow him to enjoy the fruits of his labor by having safer night vision, plus they will look better in the day time. A cold air intake (any ebay no-name brand) might be fun (and cheap) A muffler tip (non-resonated) is inexpensive. That's a nice car for a teen!

I sort of agree/disagree with the windows. From my experience, young drivers are already Cop magnets and legal tinting might make it less obvious that he's young unless he's driving with his seat layed all the way back or wearing his ball-cap sideways. Just my $.02 but my kids will have their windows tinted to the max legal limit. I don't need them repeating my youth experience. I got called in to meet with the DOT Commissioner when I was 18 because I had 32 points on my record and he didn't understand how I still had my license.
