WoW. Well I had the mada in the shop for warranty work... to reset the TPM system. While it was there they hooked me up with the timing advance for FREE!!!!! Sweet. Well I have to say that this really does make a huge difference in throttle response. I drove it for a week...not telling the Wifey that I had it done. She got in it the other day to run to the bank real quick.... I heard the rubber peeling off as she rounded the corner before the VCD kicked in...When she returned she got in my a$$ thinking I spent a but load of money on a performance mod...hehe.. Took me 1/2 hr to convince her that it was free!!!!! Just my .02 that this mod works and is very noticable. If you havent done it yet...kick yourself in the back of the face and run to the dealer...NOW!! or I will sick Chuck Norris on ya!!!

My dealer will still not do it for me, the service manager claims to have done it on his and found no difference, so he put his back to the regular settings. For those of you who have had it done, is he bs'ing me.

The lead tech at my dealer's service department actually did mine.

Uhhhh, YES. I'm considering having it done on the wifey's Murano too if that tells you anything. ;)

I will say though, that the Titan guys are complaining a little about worse gas milage. I think that maybe most people at the dealers maybe forgetting that our differential gearing is different so we have different results.

I first asked at a dealer and they told me it would make a ticking sound and when i talked them away from that arguement they said it would get deleted when the battery got disconected so i gave up on getting the dealer to do it and ShadyJC did if for me. Since he reset the learned driving habits it took about a week before i really noticed the difference. not sure why.

My brother gets worse gas milage on his Titan but that is only becouse he floors it more often now.

overall it was really worth it.

Is there a list somewhere of advance-friendly shops? Or does anybody know someone in the Hampton Roads area who can do the advance?

Have you looked at our list?
http://www.clubarmada.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8068

I don't see anyone listed that is near you; Joek128 is in Northern VA.

Thanks scr38, I hadn't seen the list. Doing a search for "timing advance" brings up a whole lot of hits, I hadn't gotten through all of them yet.

FWIW: I think Blakspyda had his done in Vienna, VA but that looks like quite a drive from where you are.

Welcome to CA lindaarmada! Glad to have you here!

How long have you had the Armada? You should be able to tell the difference in acceleration, especially on the highway!

I actually had it done in Silver Spring, MD at Herb Gordon Nissan. There was a guy in Vienna (Tyson's Corner), VA at Rosenthal Nissan who was supposed to do it, but he went MIA and I never could get in contact with him.

Welcome to the Club!!!! :hi:
My print-out showed that mine was advanced from 15 to 17. As soon as I had it done, I could put it in 2wd, turn the VDC Off, and lay burned rubber down the middle of a developing residential street. Unless you really romp on it, you'll hardly be able to tell except that you may be able to wait an extra day or two before getting gas every week.

Everyone's experience seems to vary a little. ;)

One thing to keep in mind on the 08s. They have a new ECU, and the UpRev software can't do an advance on an 08. At this time you will need to have a dealer do the advance on a 08 with the new Consult 3.
UpRev is working on this, but they are very busy and it may be a while before UpRev will work on the 08s.

Sonofa.......I bought the thing at Herb Gordon. :damn:

It was worth the drive for the deal I got there. If I had known when I picked it up that they would do the advance I'd have had it done then. Oh well, I'll have to call around here and if I can't find somebody, next time I'm up visiting friends in the DC area I'll have to make a trip. Thanks for the info.

Welcome to CA. They should give you a printout of the timing setting on your Mada. Like SCR38 stated only the Consult 3 can do timing advance on the 08 as of now, not all dealer are even up to speed, some still use the Consult 2.

So you got all these Nissans and no Pics yet?? Cannot wait to see your Gallery when you get them uploaded!!!!

From what you're saying, it sounds like the Timing Advance took. The '08's already have VVT to add power so maybe the timing advance may not be as noticeable especially when you haven't really had time to get to intimately know your truck yet.

Hang out on here and before long, you'll know how to fix things before they even break and you'll know what a strange sound or warning light means even though you have never heard or seen it before. ;)

Go to the Gallery http://www.clubarmada.com/forums/vbpicgallery.php? and see if you have a "My vBPicGallery Hall" to click on. It should walk you through creating your Gallery. For me, I have to open the Pics in MSPaint and "Stretch" to 40% or 60% (depending on which camera I use) to get them downsized enough to upload.
