Wifey called earlier and said she wrecked her Murano. The line to 911 was busy (as always) so she gave up after 20 mins and had to call the Police Dept to be transferred to 911. What a joke!!

Anyway, I got there and visited with the PO and let him know that this was her very first accident in over 25 years of driving so there had to be a reason. After talking with her, I found out that she waited for the car in front of her to pull out into the (busy) street and the car decided to stop in the middle of the street and my wife hit it because she was too busy watching for traffic.

It was tough but I had to explain to her (while ducking :D) that she was still wrong because it's her responsibility to make sure her path is clear. Anyway, the PO was a great guy so I chit-chatted with him a little longer and fortunately, he wrote it up as a "no-fault" and explained to both of them that both of them were wrong. He told the other lady that if any tickets were written it would be one to her for "improper stopping in a traffic lane" and one to my wife for "not checking the intersection" so of course, they both agreed they'd rather not have any tickets. Hopefully the report will concur.

In the meantime, it looks like we have a Murano front bumper to replace. I'll see if I can get a pic posted tonight.

Glad she's OK
I see your negotiating skills are great
Cooler heads always prevail.
Good luck finding the bumper.

Yea, it was a big relief to see that noone was hurt. To be honest, it's more due to the better quality of Police Officers that our City and State Officials have been hiring rather than "my negotiating skills". Over the last 10 years or so, they have done a GREAT job of rotating out most all of the old-school cops and have been replacing them with educated and mostly military so most of these guys are a whole lot more reasonable and easier to deal with.

It's one of many reasons why I like living here. ;)

I hear ya Pops. My time spent in OKC back in the 90s taught me to avoid them at all costs. I had been told to stay away from the "Good Ol' Boys". I was quite surprised though, when my Montero got broken into while I was staying in the LaQuinta near Tinker AFB. The Cop was very professional and empathetic. Oh yeah, they had the theif in the back seat and that cowboy had been jacked up fairly well.

Hmmmm... Actually, she's been eyeballing the new FJ. I've always loved the old ones like the FJ40 so she's pretty much got me convinced but I just can't afford to be dug into a deeper payment until we we get our share of her Mother's '07 Murano paid off. The whole Family pitched in to get it for her as a Christmas present last year.

Well, if you get in a pinch where you just need a cheap set of 4-wheels for raining season, let me know. With granny being in the hospital now, we may be selling the '99 Intrepid we got to haul her around in sometime within the next year or so. It's really more of a family decision so I cannot say exactly when that will happen but I know it will be very cheap and it runs great.

Thanks!! It's really not too bad, just needs a new bumper eventually. Courtesy charges $300-$400 for the parts and I'm sure that YourNissanParts or someone local will have them for less.
