I am a nooB here, but are there any chips or tuners made? More specifically, if there are any, do any help significantly with gas mileage?

thanks,
ryan

The gas milage is pretty much what it is. Uprev makes Osiris and Cipher software that you install on a laptop and tune accordingly. 17mpg is usually about as good as she gets on all 65mph highway. These are heavy trucks and it takes a lot to keep them rolling. With enough mods and a performance tune, you can smoke tires all day long and drink 11mpg. The largest affect on MPG's are wheels/tires.

Wow, 11 is even a bit less then I was expecting. Is there a good chart or formula that shows the effects of adding wheels/tires? The Armada that I looked at yesterday had 22" rims with 305/40/22 tires. In doing research after the test drive, it looks as if I would have to add the tire pressure sensors to get that benefit from the car's monitoring. Also, it seems the mileage that is advertised is probably a bit high since it has this setup; I would guess the overall height as I saw it was maybe an inch or so larger then factory. I have a lot to learn:D

Height doesn't have too much of an impact like it seems it would. If you start a thread under the General Discussions w/ something like "What MPG on 22's" you should get the answers you're looking for. ;)

There's a few options but there's nothing that is really consider a "tuner" as ther are no end users adjustment. The top two out there are:
Up Rev - ECU reflashed www.uprev.com
Stillen VK Pro - Plug and play module www.stillen.com

Seems like Up Rev is getting more reviews and better results than the VK Pro.
I have the Up Rev tuned and while it did not improve my mileage it didn't really hurt it either.

Stay away from the Unichip as all who have bought one return it or use it as a paper weight.:D
