ok, so i finally installed my "lift" yesterday. the rear measured out about 2" higher. the front however, is barely an inch higher. so the whole idea was to level it out, and i only made the rake worse. i have a feeling rancho mis-boxed the struts, and i was sent quick-lift boxes with standard size 9000x struts. we'll see monday morning when i call em how they handle this little problem.

on a seperate note, as many of you know, i've been trying to correct the bump-steer issues that seem to plague the armadas. well, just as newbiedrew claimed, these rancho struts COMPLETLY cured the problem. this thing has never driven so well. the bump steer is gone, and the steering as a whole feels a little more solid. also, i was having a slight high-speed vibration in the wheel, which i figured was from me balancing my tires in a big hurry when i put em on. after the new struts the problem is gone. had the mada at 90 on the way home and it was smooth as could be. i'll get some pics up whne i get the front of this thing figured out.

Bummer that you're having issues with the rake!! I HATE when things don't go together and THEN can't correct the problem until later. Very frustrating.

I replaced my struts last month with the PRG Bilsteins and cured my bumpsteer as well. My wife is MUCH happier with her ride now!

Huh, that's interesting!!! Hopefully, it is a mis-packaging or some easy adjustment.

I finally got my Rear Alignment completely fixed!!! I found an awesome Tech at another dealership who enjoys working on things like this and he enlongated the outside holes on the lower spring arms about 1/8"-1/4". This allowed the Toe to be adjusted enough to match the Camber. So now, I'm sitting with 38" high fender wells all the way around with PERFECT alignment. The best part is, I still have more room to raise it taller if I want and can still get the alignment perfect. I'll try to put together a little how-to this week adding this to information that others have provided on here to make it easier from here on.

Wow, make sure they realize that your time and labor is not cheap!

Guess you could also add a lift to the front now, but that defeats the purpose of the quick lift idea and Rancho should make it right....

Do an alignment yet norcal?

Glad to hear that the bumpsteer is gone.... I keep the fronts dialed to mid to higher stiffness setting 6 or 7. Keep the rears a little softer. It really helps when the mada is loaded and on long trips on winding roads. Keep us posted!

did the alignment, no prob. i installed it at work, so i had a nice two-post lift and a hunter alignment machine, had it all done in under 2 hours. i had the fronts at 1 today, changed em to 4, seemed to ride nice. we'll see what rancho says tomorrow.

update here: so i checked it all out and i do have the correct struts. i'm sitting at 36.5" front and 38" rear. rancho says sorry, this is how it is. sucks. so i gotta find a 1-1.5" front spacer. we'll see.

:crikey: 36.5" sounds more like a .5" lift than a 2" lift.

EXACTLY!!! ranchos customer service on this has been enough for my rec bilstien shocks from now on!!! i e-mailed greg just a few minutes ago to see if he will sell me just one spacer i can cut in half. if i put the 2.2" or 2.5" kit in i'd look like a pre-runner. we'll see...

I have talked to their engineering department before and they were helpful, but this sounds like b.s.....

Also, don't forget to mention to Rancho that you belong to a very large Armada club. Or just leave it as FU*%&*G Rancho!!

If you need me to measure anything on the standard rs9000x struts, let me know.

the rancho techs were very helpful, but the arent willing to even send me another pair to try, and i said i would pay to ship mine back. the tech told me where to measure mine to make sure they are the "lifted" struts, and they measured right.

Looks like you're not alone. Rancho should be required to change their advertisements. :(

Check this out!!!

I have a buddy by the name of Havock that had those shocks and he only gained an inch as well. He also took it offroad (light offroad) and the shocks busted. I say, send them back asap and get the cheaper, better quality Bilstiens and a leveling kit.

rancho has been trying to help me lately. i told the customer service rep that the director of purchasing for our company (over 420 stores!!) would be calling if they didnt help out a bit on this. luckily this is my own car, had i installed this on a customers rig i would be eating the cost of the kit and the labor. i might end up getting the normal height 9000x and installing a level it on top. we'll see, but thanks for the heads up!!!!
