My name is Joe. I just got a 2006 Nissan Armada. It is pretty sweet. The only problem I have so far is it didn't come with a Tow Package. I want to eventually get a toyhauler. So basically what do I need to do to make it work?

Hey welcome to club armada... Basically I guess you just get a tow hitch.. They are huge and super cheap! lol I think from the dealer you can get it for under 200.. Dont mark my words.. But I am pretty sure! Other than that.. just some power and wires and bam your set! You can get the harness from any auto part store!

:hi:and welcome! My Mada didn't come with the tow package either, but it was installed by U-Haul(I believe) before my hubby's dad gave it to me. Never had a problem with it, and trust me, we've used it more than just a couple times!!

So basically what do I need to do to make it work?It should be noted that the factory tow package is more than the tow hitch receiver. There is a transmission cooler, a trans temp gauge, and lower (higher numerically) gearing. Plus I am not positive about this, but isn't the auto rear air bags only available with the tow package?

Which toy haulers are you looking at?

My brother has a megalite 23' by extreme. I was looking at something like that. I need to fit at least 2 full size qauds or a Rhino and a quad. So I was thinking of a front kitchen or bathroom model. I think those have more cargo space than the front sleeper models.

Welcome to the Club!!!! :hi:
You really may need the tow package for that. Like Euro said, there is a lot more to it than a hitch. The Load-Leveling Suspension (Air Bag Supension) is only avail with the Tow Package and even if you work around that with old fashioned air shocks or something, there could still be a potential to burn your Tranny out hauling that kind of weight around w/o the extra cooling capacity.

Yeah I definately was going to get a tranny cooler. I did notice the thing about the load leveling system. I could probably find some aftermarket bags or something. But hell my bros suburban doesn't have any load helper springs but he put a tranny cooler in. It works fine as far as I know. I do think my Armada would be more than capable towing his trailer.

The tow package has a lot more than just the hitch:

Tow Package: receiver hitch, lower final gear ratio, additional 7-pin wiring harness plug, trailer brake pre-wiring on I/P, A/T temp gauge, heavy duty battery and rear suspension levelizer

The package is an option on the SE, standard on the LE.
There is no need for you to add a transmission cooler since all Armadas have two coolers installed at the factory.
The best deal on adding a hitch is the factory package. It includes all necessary parts, relays, wiring, etc. and, IMO, adds more value since it is factory. You can get the hitch package at your local dealer, or better, from our sponsor, yournissanparts.com.

I had the factory package installed on my SE after I bought it and have toward north of 7500 lbs. with no problems. the beast can handle just about anything!
