Hey guys/gals, Its getting cold up here and I have to change diff fluids. How much does each take and should I change the transfer case fluid? What kind of fluid should I use for -50 F weather? Will Royal Purple do the job?

I am also considering spark plugs. What kind are the best?

Thanks for the help.

The front diff needs 3 3/8 pts of 80W90; the rear diff 3 3/4 pts of 80W90 (I use 75W140 in the Texas heat); the transfer uses 3 1/8 qts of Nissan Matic D.
I would use full synthetic in both diffs; its viscosity is more constant in the cold weather.
The stock platinum spark plugs are good for 100K miles, but if you want to change them I would go back with the same.

I know the rear diff takes just under 2 quarts cause I just did mine recently.

I would get NGK platnum or NGK Iridium plugs(pricey).

I have heard nothing but great things about Royal Purp and Amsoil.

SCR38,
Is there a difference between individual Armada vehicles with regards to fluid quantities? Reason I ask is, I changed my fluids today. 12K, been to the dealer 3X since new, dealership claimed all is well......... I drained just under a quart from front diff and just under a quart from rear diff. (no leaks, tight as a drum) Put back in just over 2 qts each till it ran out the sight hole. As for the transfer case, I drained 2-1/4 quarts and replaced 2-1/4 quarts. 2007 LE with 4wd.

I know the cars come from the factory with the absolute minimum amount of each fluid to safely drive off the lot but this is getting old! When I picked mine up I watched them add 1/2 galllon antifreeze, 1 qt engine oil, 1.5 pints of trans fluid, and 4 ounces of brake fluid. I guess I shoulda made them put it int he air and watched them check the transfer case and diff fluids. This could be one of the major reasons that Nissan has had so much trouble with their diffs? Has anyone else received their vehicles down on fluids?

The fluid amounts are the same on all Armadas. I guess yours was underfilled at the factory.
I haven't heard of this problem with the Armadas, but many early Titans were shipped with the rear diff filled only half full.

Many Garcias! That's muchas gracias in spanglish. I drained the TFC for an hour, then I refilled the transfer case to overflow and only got 2-1/4 qts in. I ran it 3 days in 2wd and will try and add another qt on Friday. While I was underneath I took a close look at all the cheapo aluminum under there. It is quite obvious that most of the castings were done into a mold that was not up to the right temperature. If they put a diesel into the armada, they are gonna have to increase the strength of the drive train several fold to absorb the torque, unless they put in a little 4 banger.

Thanks for the input on the transfer case fluid quantity.
