How to remove Power Socket / Lighter

Anyone ever get this figured out? I have an 04 Armada I'm trying to remove the sockets from. I'm swapping out the cluster lid D and I've already broken one socket. I later found this diagram but using a small screwdriver to press the plastic squares has yielding zero results.

I'm confused by the phrase "while pressing the hook (B)".

Another way to ask the question may be, has anyone ever replaced a cap over the power socket? It appears you would have to remove the power socket for that as well.

Follow up, anyone have the part number on that cap? I had one broken in the rear of the vehicle but now I'm REALLY broken the one up front on the driver's side.
