I have a question for you, regarding the water. Since I live in the maritimes where we get a lot of snow and rain, puddles of water every wheres, am I risking moisture or water getting sucked in the engine? I see your design is different that the oem or the other companies where the filter is enclosed in a box. Thanks.

Hi Saracen,
We use the bottom of the hood as a "lid", so when the hood is closed it makes a box. As you can see from the installed photo we posted, there's weatherstripping along the top of the cold air dam panels; this is what makes contact with the underside of the hood. The thin open portion at the front remains well protected. We've never had any kind of water ingestion complaints with this system, but if you want a little extra peace of mind you could run our prefilter over the filter itself; the pre-filter is made of a material that is water-repellent. Hope this helps!
Why did Airaid leave that small unsealed opening at the front and back corner of the airbox. Would it be beneficial to seal those areas as well? Just wondering...

It serves as an additional cold air inlet; our system utilizes the factory inlet duct as well as this additional opening to further promote airflow. The area is well protected yet forward-facing, so you get additional flow from cold air. Really the cold air dam panels are more about isolating the filter from the hot engine compartment air. Basically, if you get in a situation where water ingestion becomes a concern, you have bigger things to worry about because your vehicle is sinking!
Keep in mind we also have our MXP systm, which is a full replacement one-piece air box rather than retaining the lower half of the factory box. This one also includes a new intake tube:

In a lot of applications, yes, the fender inlet is sufficient. On this one I suppose engineering felt there was a need to add a little more, and the benefits outweighed the slight potential reduction in isolation? Those guys are way smarter than I am, so there was a reason I'm sure!
